try Canal Street or Grenwich Village, cross the Brooklyn Bridge and look back at tthe skyline at night

NYC was built with mob cement. Go on the Embedded Tooth Tour. You are taken around to different locations where mob informant parts ended up in the buildings. Only single teeth and single tooth prints survive to this day. Bring binoculars. Gold fillings in molars can be seen in second and third story walls.

Serendipity 3 for frozen hot chocolate. This is a CANNOT miss for chocoholics. It's in the 200 block of 60th Street.

Also Churrascaria Plataforma on 49th street. This is a carnivore's HEAVEN. Excellent Prix

I am not a NYer but I have gone many times (I am from Phila. and only live one hour away plus have friends/family from NYC) and here are a few things I always liked:

1. Greenwich Village- just wander around
2. SoHo - wander around, check out the galleries
3. around 4th and broadway there is a really cool flea market. Not sure the exact address but its on Broadway in Greenwich Village (bet. 4-8th). Its only on sat. and sundays. ask someone where it is. They have really neat stuff- some for sale by local artists. I once got this really neat funky handmade necklace there fro example and a great purse.

4. You can check out places from the show "sex and the city." one of the restaurants is "Tao" a pan-asian restaurant.

5. make sure you walk under the Helmsley building.

6. Stop in front of the NY Public library. You will remember it from the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." Its a cool place to stop. there are chairs there. You will see the huge lion statues.

7. the Toys R Us store in Times Square. Really neat- it has a ferris wheel INSIDE the store.

8. Pastis: little French cafe around the Village. You may spot celeb's here,

9. Chinatown: NY has a great Chinatown.

10. sample sales: these are supposed to be great- the designers have these special "secret" sales of thier "samples." You will have to ask around & be lucky to find one!

To be honest, the best thing to do is wander about and immerse yourself in the city. Meet some folk. Hang out. Have fun. That's what I do. And anyway, all the other places I know are waaaay to kinky to mention ;-)

Hell's Kitchen ... Its such a cool area...its filled with tons of cafes and restaurants and coffe places, etc. There are tons of international places. It's mainly on 9th ave from 42nd to 55th street approximately. There is also Restaurant Row on 46th btwn 8th and 9th ave. It has mainly french, italian and brazilian restaurants.
