What are some good suburbs around Chicago to buy a house? |
I live in a very nice part of chicago but the house around were I live average out to around 350k, are ideal price range is around 225K (we were just pre-approve for 275k)
We have been considering
Franklin park, IL (not to far from Chicago)
Hanover park, IL (my best friend lives the and says it's a good area)
Plainfield, IL (the house are very nice but it around 1 hr drive away from my mom) |

Depends on where you work , how you get to work. Any kids? Pick a real estate agent in each area and see what you can get for your money. |

Closest would be Evanston, Skokie or Oak Park |

You could try Bolingbrook or Warrenville or Wheaton out west.
Or if you need to stay closer to the city there are some near west suburbs that have older homes (1960s) but are in your price range and may have already been updated a few times. Check out LaGrange, Brookfield, Westchester, Indian Head Park, McCook, Contryside, Riverside or Berwyn.
Or the near north west in Elmwood Park or Harwood Heights. |

Even if you go further out, houses are not going for $225k. Even townhomes are more expensive than that. You can try Huntley or Sugar Grove. Around $300k+ is what you are looking for on the low-end. |

try Wheeling. It is a North suburb. All the suburbs around average in price of 500k, however Wheeling is more in your price range. Therefore buying there will be a good investment!

Plainfield has SUPER high taxes..and getting higher because of fast development.
Hanover Park is OK. Depends on your nationality. Alot of diversity.
St. Charles or Naperville are the best.
As far as schools....STAY AWAY FROM District U46. Trouble all the way.
