Well, Broadway, obviously. I don't know if you're as obsessed with it as I am, but it's an amazing experience. Too bad you just missed the closing night of Rent. However, there are still many good shows running. Some good comedy shows would include Avenue Q, Spamalot (although that's closing in January for mysterious reasons), Young Frankenstien, and the Drowsy Chaperone. Spring Awakening is also an award-winning drama pop musical. Some classics that are also good: Wicked, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, or Chicago. Check out http://www.broadway.com/ for more choices.
Also, Times Square and walk around to all the shopping areas. Rockafeller Center also has many great shops. China town is also an interesting experience if you don't mind the smell (seriously, the seafood's stench smells like crap).
I would also say to go to Coney Island, but they are redoing the place as a well-to-to, pretentious tourist district rather than the rundown, but strange and unique place it used to be.
All in All, New York is a very diverse, entertaining city. I hope you have a good time!
Make sure to check out http://www.earthcam.com/ so you can wave to your friends at select areas in the city. |

Before you go check out what they have to offer online. Make a plan before you go, because there are alot of things to do.
We went on a guilded tour on those double decker buses.
We went to the Statue of Liberty.
We walked around, around, and around.
We shopped and shopped and shopped.
We wanted to go to The Letterman Show, but only got to see a star walkin.
Later that night we got to say Hi to David Letterman coming from the building from MTV is taped.
We ate alot.(research the good restaurants) Treat yourself to Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate!
We just had a great time in the Big Apple.
A Broadway Play is a must!!! Try and pick one before you go, there were too many to choose from.
Just enjoy yourself!!!!! :) |

Well, you can see a Broadway show, get mugged, see Times Square, get scammed for all your money...I'm kidding you could go to the Bronx and go to the zoo, go to Madison Square, or you could wait until New Year's and go to the parade...or something. |

My friends and I went for my birthday last summer and we had fun going to Rockefeller Center, hanging out in Central Park, shopping (oh, the SHOPPING), going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History, going to Times Square, and hanging out in the Village. Also of course you have the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
There are a billion things to do in the city, a lot of them super touristy (like the ones I mentioned already). Personally I think the most fun part about NYC is just walking around and hanging out. |

It depends on when. The tree at Rockefeller Center is impressive. The whole area, for blocks around, is usually decorated for the season.
The Intrepid museum - it's a WWII aircraft carrier. (There's also a missile sub at the same pier that you can tour.)
The Empire State Building observatory. (Plan on being up there from before sunset to after sunset - and definitely bring at least 1 camera.)
Ellis Island, if you have time and you're the descendant of immigrants. Look your ancestor(s) up.
The museums. You can spend a few weeks just doing museums. Natural History. Art. You name it.
Restaurants. Name the cuisine, there's at least one place making it authentically.
Ride a subway.
If you really want to see NYC, plan on spending the entire year. You'll get to see at least 10% of it that way. There's just too much to list in a few hundred typed pages. |
