the arch, the city museum, grants farm (not one of my personal favorites), forest park, (theres a huge carosel, boating, planetarium, the science center (across the street), the zoo), the butterfly house, the mills (a big mall w/ lazer tag, go-carts, mini golf, an arcade, ice skating, rock climbing, etc.), botanical gardens, the magic house, historic st. charles, meramac caverns, union station, etc.
not sure what's near six flags though . . .

sugrmag78
City museum! Great for kids of all ages!

www.citymuseum.org

Sorry, it's about as far as you can get from Six Flags, which technically isn't in St. Louis anyway!

Our Zoo is one of the best and its free, our science center is free and great, both are in Forest Park, you can also go to the City Museum. These are just a short drive from Six Flags. You could also drive about 35-40 mins west of six flags and go to Meramec Caverns in Stanton, its a great tour. You could go to The Magic House in Kirkwood, which isn't too far from Six Flags. You could also visit Grant's Farm. Good luck and have fun!!!

VisitMo.com will give you all kinds of ideas and prices. Most things you can do are low cost or free. The Zoo, Science Center, Arch, Old CourtHouse, Wax Museum, Hanibal Mo(Tom Sawyer) etc.....

GRANTS FARM AND THE MAGIC HOUSE In Kirkwood!

fitzovich
I would suggest the St.Louis Convention and Vistor's Bureau which you can google to find. There are bunches of places to go in St. Louis with children such as the Museum of Transport, near 6 Flags.

city meusuem, grants farm, the zoo, and the magic house

Laker Girl
The Arch, the zoo is still free and parking is only $5.00. Anhueser-Busch, Grants Farm is great for young kids. The science and industry museum.

TBM
There is a Six Flags in St. Louis (http://www.sixflags.com/stLouis/index.aspx) and the Gateway Arch is also really cool/fun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_National_Expansion_Memorial).

i would defenitly go to the childrens musium, it's great i am 16 and my sister is 6 and we both had a blast

also the magic house, it is also really fun, and on your way there is a little park with like these giant stone turtles and snakes, it's really cool.

Specifically near Six Flags is Purina Farms. From their website: "The Purina Farms Visitor's Center incorporates a Pet Center, a full-size barn containing domestic farm animals, and a theater and informational center. Demonstrations, dog obedience shows and hands-on petting areas are some of the highlights of this popular attraction, which draws nearly 200,000 visitors a year."

There is Lone Elk Park, a 546-acre wildlife trail area with bison, wild turkey, waterfowl, elk and deer, and home to the World Bird Sanctuary.
