If you live in Hawaii long enough, believe me there are plenty of locals that would like just that, to have their kingdom back, however, it is very unlikely that would ever happen. Once the US left the Japanese would take over, Hawaii is their playland!

I agree with mommy to 2. The Japanese are buying up Oahu piece by piece. There is precious little left the Hawaiians can lay claim to. The saying goes..."They couldn't blow the island up so now they are trying to buy it." If that sounds raciest...sorry. But if you spend any length of time there you would know it's the truth.
The local people would never survive without the U.S. government now. They have lost too much, by hook and by crook. They may want their island back, but shamefully, that way of life is gone forever.

Yeah seriously. The US Navy's Pacific Fleet is basically in Hawaii. The doubts is very high. also it is economical positive due to its tourism.

i believe maybe if we can all stop fighting and join together there might be a slim chance of it happening i am one of those local people who wants there kingdom back but not until we have someone to lead the kingdom.but i also believe when that happens the leader Will come to show us the right way not until that then should we give up hope that one day we can get our islands back and become a nation of one people.

Our Hawaii long time Senator Daniel Akaka introduced a Bill to Congress. This is the 2nd time he introduced this Bill. For it's been denied last year. I was upset!! As far as I know this 2nd time around Bill is still being reviewed by Congress as I type. This Bill is for our people, the Hawaiian people. As quoted from an article this is also one of the main reason why Senator Daniel Akaka wants this Bill to be passed:
"Senator Akaka sees this process as important for all people of Hawaii so that we can finally resolve the longstanding issues resulting from the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii and move forward to provide the best future that we can for the children of Hawaii".
Beavis and Butt-head with me being an proud Hawaiian & having 2 sons..I too want this Bill to pass. I know there are pros & cons on this Bill. It's really hard to please everybody. Sometimes I wish looking back in history every country just enjoyed the land & culture they had. Instead of getting other countries. To look at this in a healing process & forgiveness...if it wasn't for America to take us I know Japan, British or China would've wanted us. Our Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle personally told me this Bill needs to be passed for the sake of the Hawaiian people. We need to be recognized amongst America & the World as indigenous people just like the Alaskan Natives & Native American Indians.
By the way I love Mommy 2 boyz answer. That's straight from her heart!!!
