Overnight, San Diego County fires expanded in Fallbrook, pushed closer to the heart of Rancho Santa Fe, one of the most exclusive communities in the nation, and began to march closer to Chula Vista and Bonita. Homes were still burning in Poway, Rancho Bernardo and Escondido.

A new fire, called the Poomacha fire, erupted about 3 a.m. today south of Highway 76, burned through the Rincon Indian Reservation, and then jumped Interstate 15 westward in the Del Dios area. By noon it had scorched 23,000 acres and destroyed several buildings. Firefighters were concerned it could meet the Rice fire in Del Dios Canyon. Firefighters have been pulled out of the area, and residents are under mandatory evacuation.

Two other fires erupted at Camp Pendleton, and some Marines from the 1st Marine Regiment were forced to move to a safer spot on the sprawling base. So far, no housing units were in immediate danger, although residents of several areas have been on standby since Monday for possible evacuation.

ok hun, since you are obviously in a life/death situation, I will look for you. Ok Im at Fox news channel, and or course commercial. Heres what I saw last. There were 14-16 fires burning, 2 dead, and over 500,000 homes gone. Ive heard as high as 700,000. I now there are a few around SanDiego. Im still waiting on the stupid TV show....ok..
Lake arrowhead is affected, 7 counties state of emergency, orange county is bad, SandDiego is being hit. Some guy is there and has evacuated homes. I think its ranchro something. Evacuees are going to a stadium. Sorry im tring to see where in sandiego its in. Ok...Sandiego "udder Desastor". Rancho Santa Fe is a town in san that was hit. hun I dont see or havent heard about your town. Go to WWW.foxnews.com and you can see where it is and what is going on.

I really hope you listen to the officers/firefighters and dont try and be a hero. Please be safe!!!

I've been keeping up a twitter feed with evacuations and other fire statuses at http://twitter.com/nateritter

Feel free to follow that for the most updated information.

best way to find out is look at sandiegocountyemergency.com

Bingo!
I have lived in San Diego but never heard of Ocean View Hills
Where are you located? I thought all the hills were built up Years ago. Anyway it's Wed. 6pm and the winds are way down. They have inspectors out there looking for arson clues.

Check out http://www.signonsandiego.com/ which is the online site for the San Diego Union-Tribune. Also try http://sosdfireblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/new-county-fire-map.html Click on the post by Tom Mallory "New county fire map" , there is a link on his post that is a pdf file that has a current map of the fires and evacuation areas as of 3:42 AM .
Hope all is ok with you and your home.

I've never heard of Ocean View Hills, but Mandatory Evacuations include:

Harris Grade
Live Oak Canyon
Hamilton Truck Trail
Trabuco Canyon
Holy Jim Canyon
Silverado Canyon
Modjeska Canyon
Ladd Canyon
Baker Canyon
Blackstar Canyon
Williams Canon

For more information on where the fires are located and evacuation list please visit:
http://www.ocfa.org/pages/ocfa.asp?filename=canyonfire.asp
http://inciweb.org/state/5/
http://www.fire.ca.gov/

I really hope these fires end soon. Luckely I live in Orange County and I highly doubt that the fires will extend to where I live, but you never know.

Stay safe!

The news is the best resource. They give frequent weather, evacuation, and anything else updates. I prefer CBS 8, but most other local channels have the news. If you need more information, their websites have listings of almost everything.

I live here and i think the fires are dying down since its not as smokey and the air isn't so bad to breath anymore. All Sandiego schools are closed down for this week and about 30,000 people have been evacuated and sent to qualcomm. Want to know more about it go to cbs8.com

hehe i feel dumb i just realized your from here...

OurLadyOf Perpetual Indulgence
It is not too fun in San Diego right now. The air is AWFUL.

I would expect several large airdrops of water and retardent, I highly doubt that you WILL need to be evacuated, but its better if this won't turn into another Katrina, so try evacing to coast, then you have the water as your advantage

Dude, these fires and what they could do to my town (it's sort of near San Diego) scare the crap out of me (I mean, it's considered a national emergency by the president, with troops being sent!)......... I'm not sure if they do where you live, but the news is only covering that pretty much. Also, there was a Y! news story on it a day or two ago.......

I'm not sure where exactly that is, but there is a reverse 911 plan in effect so you will be notified should you need to evac. The biggest danger at this time I think is Palomar and Fallbrook. You can check out websites like KUSI.com or search San Diego Fires for updates.
