Overnight, San Diego County fires expanded in Fallbrook, pushed closer to the heart of Rancho Santa Fe, one of the most exclusive communities in the nation, and began to march closer to Chula Vista and Bonita. Homes were still burning in Poway, Rancho Bernardo and Escondido.
A new fire, called the Poomacha fire, erupted about 3 a.m. today south of Highway 76, burned through the Rincon Indian Reservation, and then jumped Interstate 15 westward in the Del Dios area. By noon it had scorched 23,000 acres and destroyed several buildings. Firefighters were concerned it could meet the Rice fire in Del Dios Canyon. Firefighters have been pulled out of the area, and residents are under mandatory evacuation.
Two other fires erupted at Camp Pendleton, and some Marines from the 1st Marine Regiment were forced to move to a safer spot on the sprawling base. So far, no housing units were in immediate danger, although residents of several areas have been on standby since Monday for possible evacuation. |

I have lived in San Diego but never heard of Ocean View Hills
Where are you located? I thought all the hills were built up Years ago. Anyway it's Wed. 6pm and the winds are way down. They have inspectors out there looking for arson clues. |

I really hope these fires end soon. Luckely I live in Orange County and I highly doubt that the fires will extend to where I live, but you never know.
Stay safe! |

The news is the best resource. They give frequent weather, evacuation, and anything else updates. I prefer CBS 8, but most other local channels have the news. If you need more information, their websites have listings of almost everything. |

I would expect several large airdrops of water and retardent, I highly doubt that you WILL need to be evacuated, but its better if this won't turn into another Katrina, so try evacing to coast, then you have the water as your advantage |

Dude, these fires and what they could do to my town (it's sort of near San Diego) scare the crap out of me (I mean, it's considered a national emergency by the president, with troops being sent!)......... I'm not sure if they do where you live, but the news is only covering that pretty much. Also, there was a Y! news story on it a day or two ago....... |

I'm not sure where exactly that is, but there is a reverse 911 plan in effect so you will be notified should you need to evac. The biggest danger at this time I think is Palomar and Fallbrook. You can check out websites like KUSI.com or search San Diego Fires for updates. |
