What are the differences between the people in LA and NYC?

Regarding men: LA men are more fit, and usually wearing jeans and T-shirts. In NYC, men are heavier and usually wearing a vest with a tie.

Regarding women: LA women are usually fit (they even take care of their fitness much more than their men), and wear more exposed clothing. In NYC, the opposite.

Regarding Race: Whites in LA are predominantly Scandinavian, German, English. This is why you'll find a much larger percentage of natural blondes there. In NYC, whites are predominantly Italian, Irish, Greek and Eastern Europeans. Blacks in LA are relatively much fewer than in NYC. Hispanics in LA are mostly Mexicans, but in NYC most are either Puerto Ricans or Dominicans.

Regarding attitude and behavior: Neither are friendly; though people in LA are less rude.

Regarding religion: The majority of whites are Protestants in LA; whereas in NYC the majority of whites are Catholics. Both have considerable Jewish and Muslim populations; though NYC is far ahead regarding the number of Jews there.
BTW, most Jews in LA are Sephardim, while most Jews in NYC are Ashkenazi.

Regarding lifestyle: Generally speaking, people in LA live in or strive to live in houses, while New Yorkers are content with apartments. People in LA have cars (most of them), while people in NYC usually go for public transportation.

Hope this helps!

Just like NYC we have a melting pot of ethnic groups, we have all different types of neighborhoods, all types of people and all classes of folks.
I live in Los Angeles and I love it here. Not EVERYONE wants to be in the 'entertainment' business. Not EVERYONE even lives close to it. I get so tired of the vague generalizations made here by saying we are ALL anything. I assure you we are all very different.
I love New York because in many ways it is like Los Angeles. The above statements can be made about NY too. But, it is different in ways that has nothing to do with the people.

Some stereotypes:

NYC - Standoffish
CA - Uber-friendly

NYC - pale
CA - tan (fake usually)

NYC - fitness thru walking everywhere
CA - fitness at gym

NYC - accent
CA - no accent USUALLY (Like, totally!)

That's all I have

Nyers have brains and know how to use them. LA have nice bodies.

They say that everyone in LA is a "goof," (eccentric?), and perhaps everyone is in showbiz or trying to get into it, and people in NYC are "rude" and "uppity" and talk down to people from other cities, esp. people from the midwest which they regard as not good enough for them.

In L.A., people speak to each other. In NY, people shout at each other.

Folks in LA are marginally friendlier. They are not quite as opinionated or jingoistic. If you're a minority you can catch a cab a lot more easily in LA. They also make better margaritas in LA.
Obviously I have no great love for NYC folks who think the world starts and ends right there.
