You just asked my favorite question! Ok, last year we were:
#1 in pedestrian deaths
#1 in bicyclist deaths
Voted the most angry city in the US
Our murder rate broke all previous records

The FBI and ATF currently have task forces here trying to get the crime under control. The guardian angels are here from New York because they said "they were more needed here". We just ranked #2 in the "riskest realestate city" study. Our weather and traffic are HORRIBLE.
Before you decide check out this website:

Some idiots like that "Redgator40" are going to try and sugar coat it, but they are people who were born here and don't know there are cities that aren't horrible like Orlando.

It doesn't snow 2 feet of snow 6 months of the year (I am originally from the northeast)... that is the best thing about being here. The bad part is the pay in nearly all professions is much lower than up north and the cost of living is not.

If you want to know what Orlando is like read the answer above me... if you want to be around people like this kid who can't speak, read, or understand English then Orlando is the place for you! It's full of them.

Hi Lankan, I moved here to Orlando 4 years ago from New York, Hunters Creek area is very nice, along withe Millenia Area right behind the Millenia Mall off of I-4 exit 78.

If you're married and/or have kids school starts Aug. 20th, stay out of Metro West, beautiful area to much crime! a lot of people I go to school with and work with seem to love the Kissimmee area, the Lake Buena Vista area isn't bad either, that's near Disney, there's an apartment complex over there off of Rt.535 called the Camden, in Hunter's Creek there is the Water Bridge Apt, and in the Millenia Area there is the Villages, you can check them out on www.concord-ced.com, or Rent.net,

Let me know if this was helpful to you. If you need a hotel until you find some place to stay, stay away from O.B.T. which is Orange Blossom Trail, or better known as the trail by locals, the working girls are over there, and the low liefs. stay over in the I-Drive area,or Disney area,or at one of the hotels in the Marriott Village area. also check out,www.icflorida.com the goings on in central Florida and Orlando

Orlando? Well if you want to live in a huge Tourist trap than yea its a great place. Orlando is just a city to support Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World. Its not much of a city. Not many things to do except for the theme parks. Orlando is a very suburbia place to live, if thats what you want sure. Also dont forget the 51 million tourist a year who visit Orlando. Its okay, not a great city, I find it very boring. Orlando is also ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in the country. It is over an hour away from any beach. It is the lighting capital of the world, so it rains every day from June to October. The weather is very hot in the summer and it even gets down into the 30s in the winter. Its no Miami thats for srue, but it is a bit cheaper than Miami thats for sure also. I could name alot of cities I would rather live in. But overall it is okay, alteast it is a nice state like Florida.
Overall Orlando is a very suburia place to live in with nothing special to do except for the theme parks or driving at least an hour to the nearest beach.

Why do you want to live there?
I lived there as a child.
It's a very clean city. Disney World is there, as well as Universal Studios. There's a lot of opportunity to exceed in the entertainment and(or) service/hospitality industries. Orlando is a great place to live and succeed.

2009 brings the harry potter theme park at islands of adventure! you'll get a nice little discount for being a florida resident. stay away from my older brother though, he'll make a negative impact on your life in a hurry.

OK I appear to be the first native to answer your question. there is more to Orlando than theme parks. albeit, if it wasn't for Mr. Disney, we might still be a farming community. orlando is getting to be a big city but still has small town feel. we have many beautiful small communities all around the Orlando area. no point in florida is more than 70 miles from a beach. the weather is hot and humid in the summer but i'll take that over 3 feet of snow in the winter. its hard to find floridians down here anymore. i've lived here all my life and have no desire to move. the schools in seminole county are the best . we have a major university in our are, University of Central Florida that just obtained a medical school. Of course we have the University of Florida about 2 hours to our north and who doesn't know the Gators? the space coast is an our to our east. a lot of major companies are establishing themselves in the central florida area. we have no state tax. and to those who don't like it-MOVE.
