O.K. the first part of your question says 100, but the second part says 1000. So for the first part, there are a lot of things.
Shoes
Jeans
Hair cut,color, and style
etc.
For the second part, all the above, plus
a cheap used vehicle
a scooter
a dirt bike
etc..
Hope this gives you some idea.

A trucks tank of gas for about$100 and a mortgage payment for the $1000

Do you mean a hundred dollars (like your question's headline says) or one thousand dollars (like the body of your question says)? There's a big difference.

$100 will get you a nice steak dinner, or a week's worth of groceries. You can fill up a mid size car and an SUV for $100. You can go to McDonald's and get 100 double cheese burgers for $100 (but I don't know why you'd want to)

For $1,000 you can get 3 iPhones or like a 42 inch Plasma TV. $1,000 will cover about 1/10th the price of a new Yamaha R6 motorcycle.

mavictop_vitopac
hmmm... about 92 cheeseburgers..
no more or else you won't have enough for tax.

Peedlepup
$100 dollars will buy you 1/2 hour with the girl of your choice at a Nevada brothel.

Prepare the way
100 dollars is worth 1 stripper ,a case of beer,a pizza, and somewhere to enjoy it at

Though 100 bucks sounds like chump change to some,it would be possible to use this amount to buy some groceries, clothes or a basic night out.So with a little planning you could take a date to a movie and a inexpensive dinner.

depends on what your looking to buy, as a teenager 100 dollars means either clothes or food or both

Yes, this is a very interesting question.
1) OK, so you have a $100 stake. That means you have $100 to spend. If you are wise, then you can invest it in such a way to make a profit. That initial $100 can turn into thousands of dollars, if your timing is good, and your choices are wise.

Here are a few examples of what you can do with $100.

a) Print 250 business cards at vistaprint.com,
buy a squeegee handle, 12" channel, 18" channel, extra squeegee rubbers, wand, sponge, and extension pole for window cleaning. Cost: Approx. $100.

b) Pass out business cards to likely prospects. Cost: free (your time).

c) When the new clients call, schedule window cleaning jobs at $60.00 to $100.00 per hour, depending on what part of the US you live in.

d) After one day, make a gross income of $480 to $800, depending on the price you quote. It will depend on a number of factors, including what the market will bear, of course. You can learn on the job.

e) After one year, your initial $100 investment plus your labor should pay off in at least a minimum gross income of $100,000 (1,000 to one return on investment - ROI).

f) instead of investing in the business named above, you go to the nearest casino, and invest your $100 into a high stakes $100 dollar bill slot machine. The result (in about one to three seconds) will be either: $0 (LOST IT ALL), or a profit of say $3,000 to perhaps the jackpot of $100,000 (1,000 to one return on investment - ROI).

h) go to the nearest casino, and play cheaper slot machines, or play card games, or craps. Either way, you will know the result of your gamble within an hour or so.

$1,000 stake.

OK, let's say you have $1000 to spend.

WIth the first example of starting a business, you have the advantage of advertising. It will jump start your business, and you will make a higher profit immediately.

With the second example of gambling, you could lose it all, in about 8 to 10 hours, or you could weather a few ups and downs, and end up with the jackpot.

Or, you could invest it in a totally different way, or spend it on necessities, or on friends (this is quite another interesting topic!), or you could blow it on luxuries, travel, many things.

With $1000, you definitely have more options!
