All of ya'lls answers are funny. It is Chicago and the reason why is it is a tribute to the lake breezes off the resorts in the west. Don't believe me? Look it up! |

Yes- for two reasons:
a. Chicago has lake breezes and blizzards, storms, etc. that involve wind.
b. Chicago supposedly boasts too much- they say that it boasted about the World's Fair, that it boasts about the Sears Tower, that its politicians are very boastful and "windy", etc.
-Both of these issues fueled this nickname. Which one started it is still up for debate... |

Yes it is the Chi (Chicago)! I love this city and yes, there is a reason why it is named such. Our winds in the winters break windows from the skyscrapers and land thousands of feet below. When we drive on the expressways, the wind sometimes feel as if its going to tumble your car over. Or if you are walking across a open parking lot, sometimes it can push you down. When it is sleeting, the wind hits your face and it feels like small knives are cutting it all at once. Our winters are mean, but there is no place like the Chi! Come visit sometime... |

Chicago is the Windy City but it hasn't really earned it. Many other cities in the USA are actually windier but with Chicago it stuck. It has nothing to do with politics either. |

Yes, it is Chicago. However, the next question you should ask is why is it called the "Windy City." Hint: it has nothing to do with the actual weather, but the politics at one time. Research it and see what you find. I bet you will be amazed, I was. |
