Irreplaceable

What do you think Texas is like?

I live in Texas and I was wondering what people who don't live in Texas think about it. Like what the people are like.

Some one said that Texas should devide into 5 different states. How ironic because when Texas joined to U.S., it was so much bigger than any other state that Texas was given the right to devide into 5 smaller states and we never did. We still have that right.

I think Texans who are NOT White are discriminated heavily. Also, shot, or Killed in some barbaric way in the name of "self-defense".

Everyone has more than a one gun or some sort of weapon that spits bullets, even if is a toaster. All are just trigger happy to shot a Black person all in the name of "self-defense".

Everyone is very small-minded and do things (like voting and killing) by looking at the color of the skin first rather than the ideas and intentions of those who can change our country.

90% of the households own a pick up truck or a full-size SUV (Escalade, Yukon, Tahoe, etc.). Whether they need it or not. just to make themselves feel proud. The other 10%, either walk or owns a horse.

They're all hypocrites. This is based on what happen and the comments made by that awful Barbara Bush right after Katrina and all the refugees who so-called "destroyed" the Astrodome and about how Texas was never gonna be the same after them.

Everyone has the mentality of George W. Bush and his HORRIBLE family. Which only care about $$money$$, White people, White people with money, betraying the nation for money, big oil, taking from the poor and pushing them further down to give more $$$ to the rich.

The majority are Republicans. It doesn't matter how bad things are for everyone, they will likely vote for more of the same just to keep anyone who's not White away from the White House. Does who are Democrats, are Black, Hispanic or Asian with no money, because if they had money, they will be voting Republican and driving pick up trucks and SUVs and owning big oil $tock.

Everyone likes Mexican food (which I hate) and there's seem to be a damn Mexican restaurant on every corner. But they don't like the Mexicans. How ironic.

Texans **think** every single person that speaks Spanish is Mexican, they also are **oh so smart** that think the only place to go in vacation is Mexico and that Mexico is the birthplace of the Spanish language. Which is not.

I personally live in Minnesota now and in my opinion would not like to live there my grandpa lives there I think of southern accents and cowboy hats and big trucks and really humid days bigger unhealthy people alot of open dry land and when I went there more mexicans than americans.

filly_ehs_2003
actually i thought about the southern accents and cowboys in their cowboy hats and boots. everyone driving big trucks and everyone had horses.....then i got to go to texas about two years ago when my cousin graduated from basic for the air force...we drove through dallas and spent a week in san antonio and i realized that i was WAY off course....the strongest southern accent we heard was from a guy that worked in a gas station on the edge of Texas. we stopped there on our way home and whats ironic is he was actually from Arkansas. Anyway, i did really like how you guys seem to use a lot brighter colors when you decorate the outsides of buildings. Also, we were all pretty excited to see palm trees and cactus...we'd never seen any of that b4.

Texas has nothing for me. Houston is ridiculous to drive through, Dallas is boring. The state is to big and should be divided up into maybe 5 states. What does the northern, southern, eastern, and western parts have in common with the others? It's too hot. I don't hear about any place in Texas being a destination for tourists. And Bush makes his home there. I say give it back to Mexico .

cheetah
it is cool and fun

Duuuuude.
The only thing i see when i think of Texas is a bar with those swinging doors :P

Hi, I live in te Washington DC area, and I think TX is hot, with lots of land, and probably kind of like "King of the Hill"

Jehovah's (servant) Girl!
Howdy!

It's so funny to hear people's comments about Texas. I have lived here all my life. The rudest comments on here are from people that "think" they know what Texas is all about. They have never been here.lol

The closest comment based on facts is from "Too Sharp".

Texas is just another state with warm blooded people like yours.

You can have preconceived ideas about any state if you watch too much T.V. haha hehe

No one mentioned how we still wave at people when we drive by in "our big trucks", especially to out of state people.

No one mentioned how we still lend tools to our neighbors, keep an eye on their children while they play, take them a meal if someone is sick or in the hospital, etc...

And the "red neck cowboy" you talked about? Did you know he would be the first person to help you on the side of the street with a flat tire, run out of gas, etc...with his big belly and all! lol :)

Don't forget those commercials about our highways...we don't litter as a whole. We adopt highways and plant flowers, you know the ones!
The Bluebonnets, Indian Paint-Brushes, etc...

For the comment about there's nothing to do or see in Texas?
You've never been at our family's house on the weekends!
We play volleyball, dominoes, cook-out...with Bar-b-que!
Also, if you haven't seen a Texas sunset in person, then you haven't seen nothin' at all! :)

i could be mean and say there all
fat rednecks that love to kill animals
and drink beer.

but i am sure that is completely false
for the entire population to be that way.

For the person who says there is no snow, that is incorrect. Texas is a huge state. There may not be snow here in south Texas, but I went to college in the panhandle (not too far from Amarillo), and we got some nice blizzards up there. North Texas gets snow, south Texas, except for rare blessing occasions, gets no snow.

I've lived in Texas (except when traveling) for over 30 years. I prefer Alaska to Texas, HOWEVER, the cost of living is pretty darn low here, compared to the rest of the country.

I met Texans... and I'm from California. I tried my best to express my opinions to them (since we were on a DC trip during Bush inauguration) but the majority said, "Wow you're stupid and wrong. I'm right and you're going to hell."

Only two people were willing to have a two sided conversation out of the 20 i talked to.

March Madness
I live in Texas too.
I think this commercial does a good job of parodying how others might see us
