A slowly dying city that was based on heavy manufacturing, and having lost that, has been becoming a cesspit. I was born in Detroit, and once a lot of my relatives lived there. But not anymore. |

Because of the Car Industry, Detroit became the Motor City!! Now that the Car Industry is having Problems, so is Detroit. Detroit just depended too much for too long on the Autos to survive!!! It now just needs to start re-building itself. If has for too long let itself fall apart with too many old building still standing for no reason. Old homes still standing with on-one wanting them and alot of open spaces just falling apart. It is now time for Detroit to clean up. The People who live there want to but the City Government wants to make money but not spend it on the City the way the people who live there want to!!! That is why so many people are moving out of Detroit after all these years!!! Their City is Falling Apart and they hate to see it!!! |

It is the closest to a post-apocalyptic city I have ever seen. The city has been in an economic depression for decades, and definitely show the consequences of the decline in American automobile manufacturing. But there are some changes being made to improve the city. It has a wonderful art museum, a great symphony orchestra, and some great resaurants. It's location is wonderful by the water. In all honesty the city couldn't get any worse than it has been. I remain cautiously optimistic that the city of Detroit will somehow be rebuilt and once again be a safe and growing city.
Now for the surrounding areas, there are many great towns nearby. Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Royal Oak, Grosse Pointe and others that are developing. |

its like the UN its gone done a steep hill and crashed, and will never get back up i live in the metro detroit area and except for the FORD STADIUM (the lions) and COMERICA PARK (tigers) and FOX theatre and the FISHER theatre and GREEKTOWN and the DSO (symphony orchestra) theres nothing to do but look at poverty i hate to say it, but its true, poor detroit |

I think detroit especially, but michigan in general is big stinking toilet bowl.
Like an idiot i moved here because i am a car nut and i wanted to work in the auto industry....its just like any other big industry, except steadily going further into the toilet
The weather is super, extra, freezing cold for 6 months out of the year and for three months during the summer its so humid its unbearable.
I live in a suburb called Canton, about 30 miles west of detroit.
As soon as I get to two years on the ownership of this house I will sell it (probably at a loss) and get the hell out of dodge. |
