I've been here since 1968.

Also, this is the city where the FIRST microchip
was created back in 1956 and made it possible

Well, I could tell you that someone who has never ventured to Dallas would probably think of any of the following things: The Kennedy Asassination, Cowboys (along with their hats and boots), hot summers, The television show 'Dallas' (J.R. Ewing along with it), Texas Motor Speedway (Part of Talladegha Nights took place there. Although, it wasn't filmed their. It was actually filmed in South Carolina or North Carolina or some eastern state like that.), or perhaps that wonderful southern hospitality. But since I am from the area, I think of different things. I think of the shopping (There is more shopping per capita than any other city in the United States) and malls (some of the biggest and the best) , restaurants (they have the best and a wide variety at that), art (quite a few awesome art museums and galleries as well as performance halls and its own symphony and opera house), and also the beautiful landscape and cleanliness of the city as well as the super-nice people. These are what come to my mind when I think of Dallas. God Bless!*

I have lived in Dallas for eight years....

Previous to moving here....I thought of J.R......

Now living here...this is my impression.....

People are super friendly...because of the tax benefits...many corporations are headquartered here...so many people are transplants like myself....it is hard to run into a native Dallas person....because of all of this, people seem outgoing....eager to make new friends, etc...

It is a large city, so there is a "scene" for everyone.....gay, straight, ethnic, redneck, cultured with theaters, museums...but, also country with bars and honkytonks....very rich, and very poor.....

There is a good amount of pretention here too...I have never seen so many prestige cars in my life.....and women have big boobs and big hair....In 2004 there was more plastic surgery performed in Dallas, than any other city in the country....but, you kind of learn to look past these types....most that are pretentious have little or no net worth...so, you just kind of chuckle at them. But, it does seem to be a definite subset of people in Dallas.

Physically, the city is ugly...very flat and very concrete....There is little of any architectural significance...some of the older homes in Highland Park have some character...but, most other neighborhoods...even the more expensive ones, are just plain looking homes.....the landscaping is sparse...very few big trees ...probably because of the harsh climate....however, many homes have swimming pools....even modest priced homes have in-ground pools....

Dynasty, the old TV series. I know it was set in Colorado but it makes me think of Dallas, TX. I have no idea why.

And Dallas, a similar kind of show.

Hmmm. Strange.
