What do you think of when you think of the State of Oregon?

All states and countries welcome to answer!

Please add where you're from when you answer, even if it's something negative! I won't be mad; I'm doing sort of a survey! Thanks!

Scenery is the first impression which comes to mind.
I always assumed Washington state to be the most beautiful, but no, Oregon is.
Lakes (Crater is so perfectly round and impossibly blue) rivers; creeks; mountains; green; the beautiful, often rugged coastline; lighthouses; campgrounds; relaxed lifestyle.
Toothpicks (of course they're larger than normal)
Tillamook (the cheese factory)
Quaint scenic towns
Cheaper auto registration than Ca.

I'm an Aussie, but have driven all over Oregon twice.
Even had an address in Tillamook!

Well Oregon is like stepping back into time!
I could say I felt as I have moved backwards 10 years!
However for the beauty of Oregon there is nothing you can say not to many places where you can go from the Ocean to the desert all in one day, be on a mountain camping or fishing on a river.
There are only a few states left that do not tax goods, or where you don't pump your own gas, I think it is really cool!
I have lived here for a year in a small town and it's nice that you get to know people that live and work here. Yet on the other hand employment opportunties are hard to find, and even if you do it seems they want a ton of qualifications.
All in all it's really a neat place to live!
There is also the Portland Zoo, Indian Casinos, Newport Aquiram, Sea Lion Caves, Dunes, Volcanos, and possible eathquakes to worry about, not to mention title waves and sunami's.

Tall forests. The Oregon Trail pioneers - and the computer game about them.

I'm from all over the U.S.A. except I haven't been to Oregon.

BlueAngelGal
Trees, big pine trees. And then rocks, big gray ones, like a rocky coastline.

Mountains, lush forests, and rocky shores. I live in Florida and I've always dreamed about moving to Oregon. Unfortunately I'm always hearing about the potential for catastrophic earthquakes and tidal waves there, though.

I work at a T-Mobile call center and I got a guy from Oregon that used to live in California. He told me how his daughter was molested by some guy that worked at the school, and that his wife originally from Oregon cheated on him then put him in jail for saying he raped and beat her even though he didn't. He told me the people from Oregon are really schife and mean. Even though they probably aren't, that's what I think of when I think of Oregon. He sounded so sad and lost, and gave me a really awkward feeling.

I wonder why Oregon would find it necessary to partner in any way with the mexican national education system.

I think about the misty forests and rocky shores of the Pacific Northwest. I think of the spell of pine, and I see Mount Hood towering in the distance. I think of the still water of Crater Lake, and I see the redwoods along US 101.

I think of one drive we took from Salt Lake City, UT, to Lakeview, OR, through the wide-open remote areas along State Route 140 between the Nevada line and Lakeview, with the sun setting out in front of us and not another person for miles around, except for the rare house off in the distance out on a ranch. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. It was also a very good lunch at the Griddle back in Winnemucca, NV.
