DR = DRIVE (a street between major streets, yet is not very busy with traffic)

RD = ROAD (a street which connects with other streets)

AVE = AVENUE (a street with businesses, houses, or a landmark located alongside)

CT = COURT (a small street)

PL = PLACE (a street near more than one street)

ST = STREET (a roadway which may or may not have anything significant located alongside, and usually connects with other roadways)

TERR = TERRACE (a street with several residences (usually apartments or condominiums) located a distance from the same street)

CIRCLE = the end of a street with no outlet, and the street circles at the end.

CUL DE SAC = A street which has no outlet, and ends

Terrace is just a unique name that's used.
dr=Drive.

Skank
i think its drive

fantasynerdgirl
DR following some street names means drive. It is just an abbreviated version to it like ST is for street. Hope this helps, and have fun visiting the USA.

A DRIVE

Reesie
Welcome to the USA!

DR means drive.

The rest are Avenue, Street and Terrace, well that's a Frasier-style way of saying Street! (Referring to the Frasier TV Show with the snobby psychiatrist brothers!)

Have fun!

Terrace....fancy name for a street usually a dead end or cul de sac.
Dr. ....Drive. fancy name for a street or short road.
You may find a common name for each suffix in the same area. with the same house #s
There could be a no1 Smith street ,Ave ,Dr or Terr.
Have knocked on many wrong doors.
I live on a Drive...not so fancy

TERRACE---i think its either a circle or a street
and
DR---DRIVE----its just like a different word for road or street

We call it an abbreviation, because we are too lazy to spell things out all the way. Seriously, they do it on street signs to save lettering and room. DR means Drive, AVE is Avenue, LN is Lane, ST is Street.

just desirayyy.
terrace means terrace and dr meand drive.

ozperp
Avenue, Street, Terrace, Drive... there's no consistent convention; they're just different options for naming roads. Some cities do distinguish them in some way, but generally, they're just alternatives....

e.g Rodeo Dr
=Rodeo Drive

Most streets in the US have some kind of descriptor at the end. This usually helps to determine how big the street is.
Here are a few:
Boulevard - blvd (usually pretty big)
Avenue - ave
Drive - dr
Road - rd
Street - st
Circle - cr
Court - crt (usually pretty small)
Place - pl
Terrace - tr?
Walk - wk?

And since I live in the southwest, you might see:
Avenida
Camino
Placita
Calle

?
Drive

dr. = drive, st = street, ave = avenue, blvd =boulevard
