What hotels are the absolute closest to the Animal Kingdom park at Walt Disney World in Florida?

I know the Animal Kingdom Lodge is close, but which other Disney (or non-Disney) hotels are the next closest?

Animal Kingdom Lodge is obviously the closest. But, you already knew that ;-) It is a great resort, but considering it is a deluxe resort it doesn't offer as many benefits as some of the other deluxe resorts, so it isn't always the best choice for people. Unless you want to be as close as possible to Animal Kingdom or you want to have the Savannah view, then it make be best to go with another deluxe. I love the resort, it just isn't the best for everyone.

Aside from that you really have four options for resorts. If you want to spend as little as possible, then the All Star Resorts would be the best choice. The Music, Sports and Movie resorts are all located very near Animal Kingdom. Pop Century is close, but not real close, you would be better off with the All Star Resorts. Pop sits on the opposite side of MGM Studios and is close to Wide World of Sports and such, so that would probably not be the best option to choose.

Another option, if you want a little bit nicer place to stay, or want to be slightly close would be Coronado Springs. A great resort and it is maybe, slightly closer to Animal Kingdom, but not by much.

I don't really list any of the offsite resorts, for several reasons. One, unless you will have your own transportation, the buses the offsite resorts provide are not the best in most cases, so you may not have as many options to get to and from the parks. Also, once you get outside of the Disney resorts (excluding the Downtown Disney hotels) you are looking at a pretty long drive regardless. They will all say they are this far from the Disney World gates, but they aren't actually referring to the park gates, rather the entrance into all of Disney World. Considering that Disney is 47 square miles alone, it can be a pretty good drive. So, if you want to be as close to possible to any of the parks, it is my suggestion not to stay offsite, that is just my personal experience based on what people I know have told me and also from what I have experienced by traveling to Orlando. I think that when you are visiting Disney, the best way to experience it is to stay onsite.

Hope this helps!

Besides the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronodo Springs is the next closest. Then comes the All Star Resorts and the Pop Century Resort.

There is a Comfort Inn less than 2 miles away closer than any Disney Resort except the Animal Kingdom Lodge:

7571 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy
Kissimmee FL 34747
(407) 396-7500

There is a Clarion at:

7675 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy
Kissimmee FL 34747
(407) 396-4000

Find this address on yahoo maps or mapquest and look for hotels close to them.

Those are the two closest.

If you take Sherbeth Road, north from Highway 192, you'll be at the stoplight right in front of the Animal Kindom Resort.

Turn left and you'll be at the Animal Kingdom Resort.

Turn right and you'll see the Animal Kingdom Park on your left.

There is also a Motel 6 right near there as well as everything else you can think of from the most expensive to the least.

The Animal Kingdom lodge is the absolute closest, and it is a very beautiful (but costly) resort. I would say the next closest would be the All-Star Resorts (Sports, Music, and Movies), which are not as nice, but cheaper. I have stayed at both many times, and although the Animal Kingdom Lodge is nice, I would stay at the All-Stars because I would want to spend my money else-where. But if this is your first time going, I would suggest the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I would also recommend a savanna-view room.

On Disney property, the All-Star resorts (Music, Movies, Sports) will be the closest. They're right there, too.

Off property, you'd have to take back roads, but the hotels on 192 near the gate would technically be close. I recommend the on-property options, though.

You already mentioned the obvious in the Animal Kingdom lodge, so you only have a few choices left if you want close to Animal Kingdom. The All-Stars (Music, Movies, Sports) are the resorts that are close. These are the value resorts, so while they are inexpensive (although fun places to stay) they do lack a little in the food and room size department. Next I would suggest the Coronado Springs or the Caribbean Beach resorts. Both are very nice resorts that are in a GENERALLY close proximity to AK. All in all if you stay at ANY of the on site resorts your proximity to AK is not far.

My suggestion would be to check out a few other sources. Go to the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com. Not only can you use the resort comparison tool you can see on a map where each resort is exactly within the Disney resort complex. Also, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website that is bursting with information. You can get resort reviews, ask questions, get dining reviews, tips and tricks, and much more. Most of the people who are on the disboards are people who go to Disney often and know what they are talking about.

Hope this helps, have a great trip!

Try the all stars. they are close and affordable.

Yes the Animal Kingdom Lodge is close to it, and also the Cornado Springs resort is right there too which is new as well. There is also the All-Star resorts as well. But it doesnt really matter where you stay because you can get bus transportation from any of the resorts in WDW to Animal Kingdom for free.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is the next closest resort to Animal Kingdom after the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Coronado Springs is a very nice resort and its a moderate so its more affordable then Animal Kingdom if money is an issue. Checkout the resorts at the official website:
http://www.disneyworld.com

Have Fun.
