I have lived here in Phoenix all my life, im 21 and i love it here! There is an awesome nightlife and plenty things to do. I love that we can practically have fun in the sun all year round! People do tend to be a little on the crabby side, due to the heat but for the most part it just depends on what part of Arizona u plan to live in.. As for food, i mean we have probably the same kinds of food like everywhere else, however we do have a lot of little Mexican food places.. If u love the sun and can stand the heat for a couple months then u'll love it here, ya it gets up to at least 110 in the summer but its soooo worth it!

Your question is a little more difficult to answer than you may imagine. The answer would depend on your age, occupation, and where, in Arizona, you might settle,

We have the Phoenix and Tucson areas... big cities with traffic congestion and all of the pros and cons you'd find in any big city. And then, there's Flagstaff and Prescott, Sierra Vista and many 'smallish towns' scattered around the State.

If you live in Phoenix, you're around five hours away from the ocean in San Diego, two hours north of Mexico and less than two hours away from mountainous Flagstaff. You can, literally, ski all morning in Flag, come back to Phoenix and sunbathe in the afternoon.

We have three excellent universities in Arizona, ASU, UofA and NAU in Flagstaff,

Phoenix boasts museums, festivals, theater, major sport franchises and just about any cultural outlet you could want. Our elementary and high schools are decent.

Weather in the southern and mid section of Arizona is hot.. very hot (100-117 degrees) throughout the summer (late May through late September). The winter months are heavenly.

In the northern Rim area, summers are comparatively cool and temperatures seldom climb past 85 degrees.

Arizona, as a whole, is in need of professionals (ie: teachers, nurses) as well as service workers. The payscale is low, compared to other areas but as our needs increase, it is getting much better.

Without knowing your exact circumstances, it's difficult to pinpoint any specific area or interest you might have.

Bottomline: other than the extreme summer temperatures in parts of Arizona, it is an "OK" place to live.

Depends where you are coming from - Phoenix weather is great except for the blazing hot summers. Arizona gets lots of sun. the people tend to be much friendlier than in New England, lots of Mexicans, great Mexican food, lots to do, but their sales taxes are killers!! Jobs tend to be plentiful, but pay kind of depends on the job. I hate Phoenix traffic, groceries are more expensive than New England, most shopping is done in Phoenix because of its' variety. Prescott is a growing area and very nice. Flagstaff is growing a lot, has a large Native American population, very friendly, looks bigger than it is, 7000 ft elevation so definitely has winters. The state is very varied when it comes to vegetation. It is not all desert as some people tend to think it is, so you are sure to find someplace you like. And we tend to drive a lot more when we are in Arizona just to go shopping because small towns do not have as much as we like. But we love Arizona because we do not have to deal with New England winters.

it is ok i have lived here for 4 years, just to go to school i live in Tempe az, it is really nice if you are in school there are alot of bars in tempe and plus mill ave. Once school is out in the summer time tempe is dead. ASU is dead too no one is around plus it gets to about 110 everyday, the winters are really nice. if you dont like snow, but if you do could always go up to flagstaff for a weekend.

i lived in arizona for 16 years, and i really loved it. the weather in phoenix is really hot, but it's a dry heat, so it doesn't feel as hot as it really is, whereas humidity makes it feel 10 times hotter. flagstaff is perfect, the spring and summer get into the upper 90s and then it snows in the winter, with a ski resort in town. it really depends on where you live. i lived in phoenix for 4 years, and theres a lot to do. there are tons of malls and waterparks, plus there are good family activities, like the arizona science center. all over az there is great food, the mexican is the best! i lived in flagstaff for 12 years, and it was fantastic. its a relatively small town, so there's not as much to do as in phoenix, but you can go to the mall, go ice skating, go to the movies, and go shopping in the awesome downtown area. the people in arizona are pretty nice, and they tend to be more liberal, especially in flagstaff where hippies are everywhere!

Phoenix is like an oven that can heat up to 2000 degrees!.......just kidding! but it is really hot now. The winter and spring weather are great. If it gets too hot for you, Prescott is only 1 1/2 away or you can drive farther north where it's even cooler with big green trees mountains and lakes. You miss those things living in Phoenix. The entire Phoenix area is kind of weird because you can be in an upscale neighborhood, drive a few blocks, and you're in the Ghetto. You just need to know what you want. I live in Peoria, it's really nice, but I have to drive pretty far to find a REAL Mexican food restaurant or Mexican grocery store. Phoenix really lacks cultural diversity. There's no "Italian Neighborhood" or "China Town". Everything is really spread out.

its probaly one of the greatest placest to live except for the heat, which i dont think is really bad because im used to it and if you like getting tan and stuff like that its great!!! we dont have hurricians, tornados (we get warnings but the never happen) we get beautiful sunsets and the storms in the summer are sometimes huge! haha its a great place though

I have lived in Arizona for about 13 years now and depending on what kinds of things you like to do and weather you prefer, it's hard to tell you. The Phoenix area has the most to do but it's blazing hot here during the summer (today was 113! plus the humidity ugh!) but if you work you can spend your weekend at the pool, salt river, or at a lake near by. There are also lots of waterparks. Activities will depend on your age but there are lots of things to do. If you like the cooler weather live up north flagstaff/sedona area or somewhere near the mountains. Lots of people that live here in PHX also have or rent cabins up north during the summertime. I have also lived more southeast where weather is a little cooler but not too much to do unless you love nature stuff.

Ive lived here all my life!! I love it we dont worry much about bad weather other then excessive heat warnings in the summer.. winter is nice here!! But theres all kinds of stuff to do here for any age!! i wish i can take you to a website but i cant think of any on top of my head.

As for the weather: think of how hot hell might be. Southern Arizona is about 10 degrees hotter. People here are... different. Just yesterday there was an article in the newspaper talking about how weird people in Arizona are. We're just... not normal. As for the activities, the only thing that you should do in the summer is shopping. Why? Because most stores have a/c. I may have a slightly skewed view of this place because I've been forced to live here my whole life, and that's enough to drive anyone insane =)

i've lived in a lot of different cities around the US & Phoenix is my fav. esp for a large city. don't get me wrong.. i mean the weather is terribly hot like 2 months out of the year but besides that it is perfect. people are generally nice... you've got a lot of people moving in from Cali because it's getting ridiculously expensive over there. you've got a LOT of suburban families. some old money... some cowboys (lol but that's the older crowd). & there are some really snooty people that live in scottsdale.
anyway it is like, required to have a pool in your backyard & people spend their time chilling there, or at the malls, or going to concerts/clubs/bars whatever... usual city stuff. but... if you're highschool/college crowd there are desert parties! which are sick.
but what i really like about phoenix is that everything is new. the city is growing super fast so people just keep building & builing. i LOVE california, just for the beaches, but some of their roads/highways/traffic is just shitty. not in phoenix... even the ghetto areas look "nice"... well sort of. haha

Pros: Jobs, housing, beautiful sunsets, unique desert flair to the houses and buildings, 6 or 7 big malls and tons of restaurants, nice people, nice weather all the time except for the summer, 3 major universities, home swimming pools, and good night life.

Cons: Road construction, summer heat, traffic, pollution

Try to keep away from the Mesa area and it's great.

I have lived in Phoenix the last 2.5 years and can't wait to move to a better place. In the first year here we had at least 20 scorpions ( inside, not to count the ones from backyard), the second year it got better, we found around 7-8 inside
Because of these creatures and the heat you can't have the windows open during the night for about 5 months. You can say you have A/C, still you have to have some fresh air..
Trafic is bad,the air is so dry, the humidifier is a must. It is too hot for too long. you don't really have nice weather for more than 5-6 months. Whould I have known that, I woudn't had moved here, specially the scorpions, the endless horrible summer..
Houses are cheaper- one good thing , but I will give away my house for a appartment in San Francisco /Seattle

Well I went once when I was little.
It was hot outside and stuff, we went to the cotton fields for fun and checked out the cotton. It was pretty cool.

I'm told parts of Arizona are actually pretty nice, but not the Phoenix area where I visited.
