What is Your One Favorite Thing About New Orleans?

Be specific. Food & culture are broad, what about the food & culture(if that's your answer) do you like? Pick just one thing.

BING
at a Saints Game when the defense makes a quarterback sack or an interception.

you can jump up and high five the person behind you

it doesn't matter if your are black and they are white.

for a few hours everyone is just a Saints fan

Sorry but those are the 2 things that I love most about New Orleans.

I love the "spicy" creole seasoning of the food here!

And I love the beautiful architecture of the French Quarter!!!

There is NO OTHER place like it!!!

♥♥♥

I love that you can get a chili-cheese omelet from Camellia Grill for breakfast, gumbo from Mr. B's for lunch, and the crabmeat cheesecake from Arnaud's for dinner then wake up the next morning and pick three new restaurants!

The Music scene.. up until Katrina.
I worked so many shows in New Orleans before the storm.
Music everywheres.. coming outta every club or bar.
Concerts at the old theatres and the Arenas.
Music has come back since the storm but at one time,
Music was everywhere : )

The history. No other city in America has history quite like it. We have the big cemeteries with generations of families buried there, and the French Quarter with the St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, and the plantations down by the river, which are Absolutely beautiful.

acgasbus
I loved walking down the street and just hearing the most amazing music pouring out of clubs. It was so amazing, the best music you could ever want to hear and you were surrounded by it.

Majestic Urban Decay:
Victorian mansions, Creole cottages, Arts and Crafts Bungalows, and Beux arts buildings downtown that all mix together throughout the city to create a timeline of architecture.

Mardi Gras:
Cynical floats, mardi gras balls, and inner city marching bands that know how to drop a beat. Are there any laws here? Cops on horses watch as this guy pukes in a trash can and that lady passes out on the sidewalk mid piss in public(tourists and high schoolers...). As long as everyone's having a good time.

Jazz Fest:
300,000 people swarming Mid City all in the name of good music. What on tap for a typical day at this event? get drunk, get high, lay on a blanket in front of Congo Square, listen to some local musicians ou have never heard of and want to see again, stumble out to Liuzza's and dance with a mix of Rastas, hippies, and children on the street, the go to Frenchman for even MORE live music.

And Most of all, The People:
You're some how related to them. Strangers don't exists - everyone wants to start a random conversation with you. It's that slower pace of life that laxadazically droops below the high paced, high anxiety of the rest of the country like moss from an oak tree. What's too worry about? We can rebuilt our homes, we still got some Bourbon left to drink. The bar's are open 24 hour, right? Let's just throw on some masks and have a good time. Especially after Katrina, we have more pride than ever before. We are like some third world country struggling to become a democracy. Everyone, no matter their socioeconomic standing, was effected by Katrina and remembers what happened. It was the ultimate equalizer that really made New Orleans a community.
