Sahara, Riviera, Tropicana. Older and much cheaper because they are not remodeled every year or so. Close to everything else on the Strip too. |

Depening on your budget I would say NYNY, Excalibur, Mirage or MGM all good properties and you can get them for good price book directly with the hotels for the best rates have a look here
www.vegasuncovered.wordpress.com
I noticed that somone has said the Tropicana is having a makeover later this year I have no idea if that is true or not but they Have filed for Chapter 11 protection.
I would say to avoid Sahara, Startosphere and Circus Circus as the terrible location alone means that you will spend what you have saved on cabs. |

We had a great time at New York New York, and not nearly as flashy or pricing as the Balagio, Paris, etc. |

There are cheap hotels that are cheap for reasons. Circus Circus is full of kids so stay away from there. Sahara is in the middle of nowhere on the strip and so is the Stratosphere. Though nice it's the locations that hurt them.
Imperial Palace has the best location and value. Older place but you won't be in your room much except to sleep. Tropicana also has good value for the buck. Those would be the choices.
Go to www.sidestep.com and search for hotels for the dates you wish then organize them by price ... you will find some great deals there. |

Search here for cheap hotels
http://www.jetsetgotravels.com
It provides search option like near a landmark etc
Also it provide searches from more than one source.
But beware ... cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel you are going to book.
Check the exact location of hotel from google maps. |

First time I went to Vegas I did alot of research on sites like Vegas.com or LasVegas.com and such..
BUT we went with another couple and THEY booked the room :( Sahara :( ICK! and WAY on one side of strip.
So as not to fall victim of my past misfortune (the TRIP itself was great..hotel not so much) I suggest booking your self and try for the middle of strip. Flamingo is one of the best for the price.
Of course there are cheaper like:
Bally's, Imperial Palace, Harrah's & such...but I personally wouldn't recommend.
Now there are also nicer and more expensive. MGM is having some great specials!
Both T.I. (Treasure Island) & Mirage are overpriced and over rated IMPO |

IP and Casino Royale has cheap rates very often but I would try to get a good promotion rate at MGM e.g. because of the great pool area. If you check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com you will find various hotel promotions for hotels in Las Vegas. |

With the economy check www.lasvegasnow.com for the best deals. I would look at Tropicana Hotel or Circus Circus |

If you want cheap, you have to go off the strip. |

I would definaly recommend the Luxor or Excalibur. They are both offering great summer promotions. You should definaly check it out. Here are the links directly to their sites.
Luxor - http://tinyurl.com/544p2s
Excalibur - http://tinyurl.com/3qnckg
Hope it helps. Let me know how you made out |

Before I moved here, I stayed in a lot of hotels both on and off the strip, and Imperial Palace has always been the best value for the money. It's almost directly across the street from Caesar's, the rooms are bigger than most, and check-in lines are a lot shorter than most other places. |

Imperial palace is one of the cheapest, and it's right in the middle of the strip..perfect location... Casino Royale is right next door too.. .they're also pretty cheap...
Who cares where you stay.. who sleeps in Vegas anyway? |

I would check out Bally's and see if you can get a view of the Bellagio Fountains. |

nothing beats the Imperial Palace for location and price. Plus they are the only casino hotel with balconies (get one overlooking the strip and you can see the fountains of Bellagio and the Mirage volcano from your room) it may be showing some age and a little dark inside, but I love it (just dont expect too much from the buffet....eat somewhere else. It is in the best location on the strip and is very affordable (now owned by Harrah's) |

Since it is your 1st time to Vegas your best bet would be somewhere on the strip. Preferably on the south side of the strip such as Excalibur or Tropicana.
Circus Circus, Stratosphere, and Sahara are all on the north side of the strip and in a somewhat "rough" area, especially at night. The same thing goes for anywhere downtown.
If you don't mind staying somewhere a few miles from the action, try South Point. It's a nice hotel and casino. It's on Las Vegas Blvd but it's 4 or 5 miles from the rest of the casinos on the strip but they have a free shuttle that goes to the strip. Normally they offer pretty reasonable rates.
Where ever you stay just remember that your not going to be spending much time in your hotel room anyway since there are so many things to do in Vegas and have fun! |

New York New York, Monte Carlo, and Paris are all fairly cheap and right on the strip. For the best deal, try to get a package deal (airfare and hotel). |

I will name only the hotels that I would personally stay at, as a budget traveller I don't spend a lot of money on a place to stay.
South Strip
Great location, close to everything, nicer area
Luxor (from $59/night)
Excalibur (from $51/night)
MGM Grand (from $69/night)
Tropicana (from $48/night)
Monte Carlo (from $59/night)
New York New York (from $64/night)
Center Strip
Bally's (from $50/night)
Harrah's (from $50/night)
Imperial Palace (from $40/night)
Mirage (from $72/night)
http://www.smartervegas.com/
There is also a Travelodge near MGM Grand with rates from $59/night and a Motel 6 off the strip, but near it.
I would not stay at these hotels. They are cheap but are either in a bad area or they just aren't nice hotels.
Sahara
Circus Circus
Stratosphere |

There is a Super 8 motel on the strip which costs about $130 per night. Not the best and maybe not the cheapest but your WIFI use is free where the major hotels charge. It is in the middle of the strip. |

The Tropicana is your best bet. It is a bit older, but it is well taken care of. The Tropicana is scheduled for a "Make-over" later this year.
Here is what I like about the Tropicana:
1. Location and price
2. The poker room and the proximity of the hotel allows you to play cards at the Luxor and Excalibur within walking distance.
3. The pool - swim-up blackjack!!!
Enjoy!!! |
