NYC is Great! I suggest you to go to the Rockefeller Center. It is really cool and fun to be in there, you would enjoy the shops, ice skating rink, museums, and the city itself. I also would suggest you to visit Time Square, and Broadway Theater. There are awesome areas and places in New York City. You will love it! Enjoy!

Besides shopping (Which is a must at every birthday, sure, but NYC has shops everywhere!) Other things you want to think about before going to the city are what you want to eat, what you like to do, if you have a particular area or place you want to go.

There are a few neat places I went to in NYC for my 15th birthday! (I've celebrated my birthdays in the city ever since) I picked out a restaurant... a good part of your birthday is eating right? Think of what kind of food or atmosphere you'd like on your birthday. Whether it's something new and exotic like an ethnic cuisine - Indian, thai, Persian... Something cute and light like a tea house, Something fun and themed like Jekyl and Hyde's or Mars2112, or just looking for great food decide your budget and preferences and search google or http://nymag.com/restaurants/

On my 15th bday I was really craving cuban food, I googled NY cuban restauarants, and decided that what we'd do would be around the area of the restaurant (Son Cubano - 405 W 14th st in Chelsea).

In that area was chelsea market, which was really neat and I would recommend. http://www.chelseamarket.com/ There's a few places to eat here, a few bakeries (like fat witch - amazing brownies), and the building is kind of like a art gallery as you walk through it.

Than after the market my friends and I walked to the chelsea piers where we went bowling. Here you can also ice skate, they have some golfing, gyms, various sports courts... It was fun to walk down the peirs a few times and watch through the windows ppl inside playing soccer, cricket, basketball, gymnastics... http://www.chelseapiers.com/

Other activites that you might like are park ice skating: http://www.wollmanskatingrink.com/main_wollman.htm
http://www.rapatina.com/iceRink/
(I never been to the rockafeller rink but It always looks like a wait, not sure if it is long)

China town - Elizabeth Center has a lot here - like chinese healing spas, cute clothing boutiques, stationary shops, weird herb/shady medicine shops, and this fun photobooth sticker shop (you pick out your photo backgrounds like flowery ones, plain ones,or ones with hello kitty/some anime cartoon... and get a package of pictures that are also stickers!)

Museums - They are fun, interesting, and also educational! http://www.ny.com/museums/all.museums.html

Movies - Besides the regular theaters you can find anywhere NYC has some really interesting ones, like for foreign films, independant films or if you aren't into that, how about IMAX big screen movies? NYC's ImaginAsian theater has movies from Asia and Bollywood movies (Indian films - know for the singing and dancing!) http://www.theimaginasian.com/index3.php
Independant movie theater: http://angelikafilmcenter.com/angelika_index.asp?hID=1
http://www.fandango.com/amcloewslincolnsquare13withimax_aabqi/theaterpage

Make a list of the main places you'll want to see that day, especially the location of everything. It's helpful if everything you want to do is close together so you don't have to worry about taxis/subways and if it isn't figure out before hand how'll you get from one place to the next. Just walking around an area, you can discover a lot of neat places for shopping!

Hope I've helped! Have a happy birthday ^__^

Scavenger hunt!
i know it sounds really childish... but the wackier and crazier the stunts are the more fun it is... i did it for my 14th birthday party and it wass soooo much fun!

You have to take pictures of everyone doing the stunts andif you can get the strangers to wear the glasses with attached nose and mustache you get extra points...

hope this helps, and have a happy birthday!

Is she *from* NYC? or are you guys visiting?
I guess the hail mary in Manhattan is a B'way show and a nice dinner....
If she's a mini fashionista, you could give her a budget and take her shopping...

If she's got some special interest in an area of history or science, you could call one of the museums and see about getting her a meeting with one of the curators in her area of interest. Likewise, check around to see if any of her fave writers, musicians or actors are doing public appearances.

Hell, if you really want to blow the budget, find a flight deal and take her to London or Paris for a few days... ;)

Carriage Ride in Central Park? Sign her up for extension classes in something cool? Russian Tea Room? Rainbow Room?

Take her to the Stock Exchange & have her present be some stock in a fave company? (you can buy cool looking certificates from Disney, Starbucks, etc for gift giving online--google it).

Okay...I'm tapped for now. Hope these are helpful and good luck for a fantastic 15th!

Cheers!

Endless possibilities! Gosh I'm jealous of you!!! haha...umm anyways.......I've only been there for 3 days, but one thing you have to do or else you will miss the beauty of that place because it thrives of chaos, is stop and breathe. Now I'm going to sound really stupid if you are from NY. Are you???
I don't think you are, because otherwise I don't think you would be asking this question.
Here is a list of things.

1. During the day take in all the sights, Stay at the plaza hotel for a night, and eat dinner in the french restraunt there.
2. After dinner, a broadway show.
3. the next day have a shopping trip!
This should be fun. Just go with the flow if you feel a different hotel, restraunt, set of activities, then do those. There is so much to do there and so little time. Do what you feel!

Ps. Also Canal street is a fun place to shop. Must visit there!

Spend the day walking around enjoying the city atmosphere. Be spontaneous and try something fun. Top of the Rock is fun or tour NBC Studios. Later have a nice dinner. There are so many restaurants. I would suggest finding a restaurant about a week in advance and make a reservation. Some of my favorite restaurants are the 21 Club, Del Frisco's, or something more relaxed like the ESPN Zone. Whatever you choose HAVE FUN and good luck!

I did this for my 14th....

We went in----then we went to this awesome restaurant for dinner with off broadway singers---went to see a show----walked around canal street----went to hershey store....went home...

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I suppose it depends on how much money you have.
An amazing birthday would be to take all of your friends to see a Broadway production in some fancy car and then go out to dinner and then go shopping :o]

But you could also go the central park and have a roller blading party or something.

Staying out all night is also very fun.

I actually had my 15th Birthday in New York. We rented a room at the Hard Rock Cafe and it was a lot of fun. New York is somewhat expensive but the meals there were relatively cheap compared to all the other restaraunts. I also recommend Mars 2112... it's the coolest place to eat in New York City, but, it's like a ride too. I recommened Madame Tussades, Ripleys Believe It or Not, or any broadway show. You can usually buy tickets for relatively the day of the show. New York has a lot going on already so you could really just go there and see what looks exciting and fun and go from there. But if you're looking for a real good time I hightly recommend Mars 2112...!!
