Go to Sedona Arizona...it is gorgeous, great for hiking and it has famous red rocks and mountains that are so beautiful. If you go there, head to Cowboy Club for dinner, it's great. It's located 2 hours north of Phoenix and 45 minutes north of Flagstaff, so the weather there is divine.
San Diego is not all it's cracked up to be, BUT if you are there, head to La Jolla for amazing boutique shopping and go to "Seal Beach" right off the main drag, it's so cute you can watch all the seals hanging out on the sand, its good to go at sunset too.
In San Diego, STAY AWAY from the areas close to Tijuana, it is dangerous and sketchy! San Francisco is way cooler if you can go there! |

Where in AZ?
If you are going to the phoenix metro area, they have a place called Castles and Coasters. There are jeep tours in Sedona. There is The Grand Canyon to go see. Lake Havassu City and the London Bridge. |

Anybody who said it's boring in either of these places should be forced to move to North Dakota.
San Diego: Old Town, Sea World, Wild Animal Park (Escondido), sailing, parks, Pacific Beach.
Arizona: water parks, mountain trips, Grand Canyon, Sedona, tubing down the Gila River
Both San Diego and Phoenix are big cities and warm all year. Both can be windy, though. |

I live in San Diego - you might need a week to really see the city for what it is. There's quite a bit to do and it depends on when as to what events are occurring of course. Great weather pretty much year round, however best for beaches spring and summer.
many mentioned the obvious: Sea World, Zoo, Wild Animal Park. A day at each is plenty and it's the obvious tourist thing to do.
You should spend a day in Balboa Park - very beautiful park setting, gardens, old globe theater complex, museums, cafes, restaurants.
A day in downtown San Diego - you can visit the gaslamp quarter for clubs and live music at night, or restaurants and shopping during the day then a quick trip to the Midway carrier museum - many other famous boats,ships, subs etc. at the maritime museum nearby - and a trip on the ferry can take you to Coronado - rent a bike and visit the Hotel del Coronado which is quite unique - famous in movies and on it's own beautiful beach. ((BEST VIEW OF SAN DIEGO IS FROM CORONADO FERRY LANDING))
Beaches are wonderful - Mission Beach with Belmont Park, Pacific Beach boardwalk, Ocean Beach Pier, La jolla cove and beach. Several days at the beaches are highly recommended.
Boating is a wonderful vacation choice also with the largest and most beautiful sheltered bays - San Diego Bay (the largest and most spectacular and just north Mission Bay.
Seasonal - summer live music at Humphries and the Padres play near the gaslamp quarter at Petco Park.
Red Bull is putting on the 3rd annual Pilon Race in the middle of San Diego bay also - amazing event coming May 8 and 9. http://www.redbullairrace.com/races.php?id=2&subpage=2&lang=en
Whale watching from Point Loma or on a boat is seasonal also - happening now actually - saw two Grey Whales last weekend while fishing right off Point Loma.

ehhhh.. sea world is fun but the wild animal park is sort of boring. But what's really fun in san diego is Pala! And in Arizona it is so funn to go tubing! |

idk about arizona but there's tons to do in san diego
surfing, beaches, wakeboarding, ice skating, parties, boys (or girls if your a guy), there's always the zoo and sea world but they're not that great, shopping, skateboard, dancing, rock climbing, the list just goes on and on. once you get here I'm sure you will find tons to do. |
