I love it and have lived here for many years, coming from snow country.

Parts are very nice, but there is poverty too.

My favorite thing is that it is multicultural, with many different people, languages, foods, and ways of thought. Some people are afraid of this, but to me, that is what makes LA so great.

My house is historic in LA terms, in a very special neighborhood. I bought it for $100k and it is now worth over $1 million, so that is nice too -- the California dream!

Do visit!

Oh, by the way, the downside is lots of traffic, occasional earthquakes, getting more crowded, and my job is dead-end!

I'll only say 3 things about LA:

Assume every trip is gonna be an extended outing.

Have lots of $$$ because the basics are expensive and it goes from there.

The most important: Have Insurance! They don't play and will leave you to rot outside the hospital. Seriously.

i live in San Diego, but i'm close and dont think i havnt been to LA often. its nothing like in flims, there's metro LA and then the rest is like ghetto. Besides like the Beverly Hills homes most of it is pretty bad, also LA is nothing like NYC or other cities where its like one compressed city, its big and spaced out and smoggy. just to let you know, a lot of San Diegans call LA, Smell A, cus of all the smog. it isnt all glamour

well, u know movies pick the prettiest place to shot
but its not bad here
but the weather is always warm
and NOT all the house is big with smimming pool
but it is high standard living there.
lots of theme parks too
generally, it is cool here
houses cost around 35 thousands to 100 thousands
depend on how much you can effort, u can get REALLY REALLY good houses here.

I dont live there but I heard the traffic is the number one worst in the country. There is also a wide gap between the rich and the poor which is sad.

It's not like they make it on TV and Films.
Housing cost, hard to find jobs..

I'm live in Burbank.
But if you're not into Urban living stay away from Watts, South Central, Inglewood, Compton... and etc.

My dad from Watts and we always go over there..but if you're scared DO NOT!

You can get a normal house in Compton for about 900/month or more .
