I lived in Ohio most of my life and I have family all over the state.

Ohio is a very big state. It has everything from cornfields to coal mines to big cities.

A lot of it is rural. If you are interested in small town America it can certainly be found. I do not like small towns much so i can not recommend any espescially nice ones.

There are many medium to large cities as well. Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus all have a very urban feel to them. Places like Toledo, Dayton, and Akron are a little more cozy but still urban.

Cincinnati is my favorite city in Ohio. It is a beautiful city with a lot of quality museums and cultural institutions. Cleveland is nice too. I am not such a big fan of Columbus. A lot newer growth than Cincinnati and Cleveland. There are a lot of fun things to do in Columbus though.

In My opinion Southern Ohio is prettier in general. Northern Ohio is flat and cold. Southern Ohio is hilly and slightly warmer.

Anyway, I think Ohio is great. Best place to live or visit in the midwest with the exception of Chicago.

Ohio is just your average run-of-the-mill place. It has a lot of cities: Cleveland, Cincinetti, Columbus, etc. Ohio doesn't stick out like other states. Virginia's a nice place.

Bob B
nice. There is always constuction. You never know what the weather will be like. Has 4 seasons. sky line chili. Kroger. I love it!

Ian W
Anything you hear bad about Cincinnati is not true. Downtown is starting to liven up again, I live there, just moved from Oklahoma. People who are not from there and have not even visited know nothing about it. It has a bad image because of the race riots not too long ago, but the bad tensions from all of that are gone. It's a great place, trust me.

If you come to ohio, stay away from cinncinnati. We have so much crime and the city has nowhere fun. The sports are terrible and the players get arrested all the time. If you come during summer, you'll hear nothing but high school football. But, that's why i love it.

Teheheman
It's not bad, I mean, once you get used to the weather and all that, it's still not bad. It's not the best state, but it's not the worst state either. Do some research before you decide to move to any state, so you can kinda judge where you wanna live. You know, like schools, and places to live and go and all that other stuff. Nothing wrong with Ohio, but I dunno it's all up to you.

I don't live in Ohio, but spent years there in summer and winter with my grandparents. The climate is wonderful - not too cold in the winter and not too hot in the summer. You do get a little snow in wintertime, but not an excessive amount. And the summers are wonderful - not 108 degrees like where I live now in Texas! They do have a state income tax, though - I wouldn't want to deal with that.

sicivic05
not bad lived here for 23yrs nice summers bad winters

ik ben alphabetsoup
Cold and snowy, sometimes nice. I don't live there but have visited.

jwactivegirl
i've lived and visited many towns of Ohio. It is OK, It is cheap to live. It is alot of flat country.

Roman/Acts 10:1
Avoid it-the weather is terrible, and (most of) the state is flat as a pancake. You get cold winters, short summers, and lots of rain and storms. Whoops, I forgot...you're from Britain...maybe you'd feel right at home!

A Native Ohioan

There are a lot nicer places to live in America-ask me for suggestions.

well we have 3 seasons, cold, hot, and cunstruction. The only good thing about Ohio is Ohio State. we probably are the construction capitol of the world, it sucks.

cincinnati is city life! love city life and love the whole rush..... its near indiana and kentucky, im not good with other cities that arent near like south cinci but they have some cool things to do... the north is kinda more like freakin country *boring* not big on country life. kentucky and indiana are as country as i can

Tobias Maximus
I've visited most of the country during my military service and I must say, Ohio isn't that nice at all. The climate sucks, the people aren't as friendly as they should be, and half of the state is a ghetto. I should say this in a language you can understand: it's bloody ghastly.

Coming from Europe to Ohio will be a disappointment. You should move to the West Coast of the United States. It's more expensive but it's worth it.......good luck!

Rick W
The weather comes in intense sessions. Very hot, very cold, very wet, very dry. Tornados and Thunderstorms love us here. As for typical daily life.... Think of a boring movie played in Ultra Slow Mode. Ohio is not a real destination, it's just the long boring drive between destinations. If you are going to visit Ohio, best time to see it in in the fall. The colors are facinating. Best place to visit is Northeast Ohio. Cleveland and Lake Erie region. The Rock n Roll Hall of fame and the NFL Hall of Fame are here as well. We are just a few hours drive from Canada and the Niagra Falls area. On the other hand, we are 22 hours drive from Tampa, Florida. :)

Ohio sucks. Lived there seven years. Really conservative and old fashioned folks. It is cheap though.

sunshinegirl
I have a friend who grow up there. He hated it, called it the "armpit" of the USA. Haven't been there myself so I wouldn't know but I do know it's not the most sought after place to live.
