I definately think the mountains are more relaxing. I love the views, the cooler air, and hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. There's something to do year round in the mountains! |

mountains. you don't have to worry about getting all sandy or sunburnt. |

There is serenity in both. The mountains reach up into the peaceful sky while the beach is the boundary to the endless sea. It comes down to which one has fewer people (and screaming children) |

of course that may be because I live in the mountains. |

The beach for me! I am from WV.....Mountains all around.....They are beautiful but I would have to go with the beach being more relaxing! |

I think the mountains are more relaxing, unless you are on a secluded beach. I don't think there is a better way to relax than laying by the beach, and hearing nothing but the ocean. But, if it is a popular beach with lots of people running around, having fun, then it isn't so much a relaxing place as fun place. So, in this case it would be the mountain...
So, mountains are more relaxing if the beach is a popular one, the beach is more relaxing if it is secluded ;-) |

Northern California along the PCH. You have both mountains and beach, can't beat it. |

Since I live in the laid back mountains and I love the beach I'd have to say-both |

I prefer mountains, and this from someone who lives 10 minutes away from a beautiful beach and about a day's drive from any respectable mountains. At the beach I always get hot and restless. I don't like "laying out." It's boring. There's more to see in the mountains, not just sand and water. And it's much easier to find a spot to be alone in the mountains than it is at the beach. Maybe it's one of those things where you crave what you don't have. I don't have any mountains near me, therefore I desire them. |

mountains are always more relaxing, because they are solid and motionless...the beach, however,is in a constant motion...You can lean on mountains, but the sea is not something you can put your head upon its shoulder |

I think that anyplace that is quiet. where there is no noise from traffic and sirens outside of the city. I mean it used to be where at night was the nicest time to relax. Now a days is sometimes worst. |

Definately Mountains, you can go into the mountains and be miles and miles away from any civilization........you just can't compare the beach to the mountains. |

I think the beach, but only if it's not too hot. I like the mountains, but only if it's not too cold, and there's no bugs.
Talk about wishy-washy |

Mountains unless the beach is secluded and not full of tourists. It's pretty hard to relax at the beach when it's full of people. |

Definitely the Mountains. If you visit Pine Mountain in Georgia and experience what the fresh air of Pine scent and the smooth breeze along with its' history you will simply be amazed. You can even visit Warm Springs Georgia where FDR use to swim to help get relief from Polio./ |

I used to live 20 minutes from the beach and used it as my santuary but now I live closer to the mountains and find fresh mountain air and the view to put my mind at peace. |
