Stay out all night and watch this big beautiful city wake -up and come to life,
Experience what Bob Dylan referred to as the " jingle-jangle morning"
Hang out in the Village until the bars close then take the subway down to South Ferry and start walking uptown keeping within a block or two* east or west of Broadway.
Pick streets that you can walk down the middle of.
Is that authentic enough ?
Have fun
Edit *
I don't want you to get too lost in labyrinth of Manhattan streets that are positively south of 4 th street. |

Leave Manhattan and experience the outer boroughs. That's where the *real* New Yorkers live.
The farther you get from Times Square, the more authentic things will be. |

Go jogging along the hudson river, go to a regular neighborhood supermarket and try to get your shopping cart pass the old lady's shopping cart heading your way (try the A&P on 6th ave and 26 st) our supermarkets have very narrow aisles. Go to the main post office on 8th ave tween 31 and 33 st. attempt to mail a package packed in a box with advertising all over it. Go into the subway and try to buy a metro card from the vending machine with a wrinkled bill. Check out some galleries in Chelsea count how many ppl speak english. Look at craigslist and try to find an apt that you can afford. These are some things that NYers do. |

Broadway is great for tourists and New Yorkers alike - you can never see too many shows. You can also go to TKTS (in Duffy Square just north of Times Square) and get half price tickets for broadway or off broadway.
Visit the neighborhoods - shop on the Upper East Side or Upper West side, Eat in Gramercy or Chelsea instead of sticking to midtown and the village.
If you are going to the village, get a burger at the corner bistro - a bit touristy, but well worth it! |

I would go see a show on Broadway. I'm an actress, so that's what I would do. It is kind of tourist-y, but Broadway shows are always so much fun! |

You've already seen "all" the attractions? Why are you bothering to visit again? Was your last trip as long - a whole weekend? Wow! |
