Hawaiian Airlines has been voted number one airline in the country for service several times and has flight between the islands for $39 + taxes and fees total is around $46. This is inline with other local airlines all of which charge the same. They have a $19 fare at specific times on selected dates but you will need to check for those . Also Hawaiian is the only one that has assigned seating, the others are first come first seated and you may be seperated from a travel partner. I have flown several of the local between island carriers and Hawaiian beats them hands down.
P.S. the little containers of guava juice they serve on the flights are the highlight of the vacation for my grandson and grandaughter. |

Use the local airlines to island hop...this is quick and fairly inexpensive. When visiting Hawaii you can pick up coupon books pretty much anywhere that is tourist related and they have island hopper coupons in them usually. Try picking one up! I don't know where you're from but I'm from Chicago and now visiting Hawaii is a nine hour trip one way I would just stay on Oahu that's where my whole family is from and that's where the most to do is! Have a good trip! |

You fly, from Island to Island, and it is not a hassle at all. It is very easy, and not to expensive. Island Air, Go Airlines, Aloha, and Hawaiian all go inter island. I use Island Air. When you are in Maui, you can take the ferry to Lanai, or Molokai Island. It is great fun to check out the other Islands, as each one is a bit different. Aloha. |

I have a trip planned for Sept. I have booked flights with Hawaii Airlines to Island hop. It was only $19 one way. I have been told that if it is your first trip to Hawaii, not to miss the opportunity to see the whole site. Hopes this helps you. |

The best deal when island hopping is via the local airlines, Hawaiian and Aloha. For one price you get the round trip flight, hotel room, and rental car. I've crunched the numbers and it is cheaper to do it this way than to book all separately yourself, plus with their deal you usually get a pretty nice hotel room. As far as being worth it, probably not if you're only going to be in Hawaii for 5 days just because that isn't enough time to see Oahu let alone a neighbor island. If you had more time it would definitely be worth it. |

The only way to get between the islands is via inter-island flight. We currently have 3 major airlines operating inter-island service (Aloha, Hawaiian and Go).
You can go between islands on the cruise ship operated by NCL but that's more expensive and a cruise (which I doubt what you're looking for).
As far as the hassle is concerned, it's air travel with all of it's inherent hassles. As far as it being worth it, I would have to say yes (though you'll incur hotel and car fees on each island). Each island as it's own attractions and charms so deciding on whether it's worth it is completely up to you and what you want to do.
Good luck and happy travels! |

Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Air have very cheap flights between islands. The flights are short and easy. I definitely reccommend you get out to at least one other island and experience Hi at it's best. The Big Island has a lot to see and many different climates to explore. From volcanoes to black sand beaches to rainforest to skiing. Hope you have a great trip! |

The best way is pretty much the only way - flight. Luckily for you, the prices have come dramatically down. I know that with Island Air and Hawaiian Airlines you can get a rountrip for under $100.00. It used to be a lot more expensive. |

Well if your trip is after July 2007 then the Hawai'i SuperFerrry will be up & running and then you can travel by ship!!!! The alternative is either Aloha Airlines or Hawai'i'an Air or IslandAir - - - - as for the hassle factor, how you define hassle? Savy air travelers have no problem hopping air-planes from here to there - - - but if air-travel irks you then yes it is a hassle // // long lines, strip searches (well, not quite but those hands do roam), the usual delays.
If you have only 5 days would stick to two islands, it is true you can find a lot to do on O'ahu but you might like to brag about seeing the active volcano on The Big Island.
Personally - - - wait until July, then take the SuperFerry!!
Peace.... |

When I lived there, we island hopped all the time... Either on the local puddle jumpers (Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines).
But you're only there for 5 days, so personally I'd stay on Oahu and go to Hanauma Bay, North Shore,,, maybe rent a car and spend a night on a beach some where.
PS Avoid the Waikiki beaches, unless you like to share a beach with either [a] screaming kids who have been ignored by their parents, or [b] very large people wearing very small thongs...
Go to your public library and look for a current guide book. they can be checked out for several weeks... vs. $20 or more for a guide book.
Aloha and have a great time!!! |
