St. Patrick's Cathedral
The intricacy is absolutely amazing

The Chrysler Building has the style and Empite State the height but the Guggenheim has the passion!

The Chrysler Building...by a mile.

Best viewing from the observation deck of the Empire State Building!

Ground Zero is not spectacular...it is just plain sad.

Oooh there are lots of great great great buildings:

Empire State
Chrysler
Woolworth Building
Guggenheim Museum
Public Library

If it's your first time in the city, or even if it's not, take one of those red tour buses... it's one price all day, you can get on and off from about 8am until 7pm...it's I think $30-$40 per person and you get to see EVERYTHING!

I would say the Empire State Building still takes a lot of beating, especially the view from its public gallery.

Two that are not on the usual suspects list
The cathedral of St John the Divine
The US Customs House at the foot of Bowling Green . Go inside and check out the dome and the twin spiral staircases- Amazing
Also Grand Central Station especially the ceiling.
Re Ground Zero :
By definition ground zero is the point that a bomb explodes. If you are going to the site where the WTC formerly stood, You will need to lean your head back as far as it will go and look UP to see the true Ground Zero

I have no idea about a building, but get down to Smith Street Seaport Museum and have a look around the PEKING.
I served on her for two years from '49 to '51 when she was the Arethusa, hence my pen name...
Times were hard the work it was rough,
And food we did not have enough,
But all Old Boys can say with pride,
I served on her, I had a ride,
I scrubbed her decks, I climbed her mast,
I wish I could bring back the past.

A few lines straight from the heart.
