It all depends on what interests you and how old you are (and how mobile--it's a drivin' city, after all). If you like sports, we have major league baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and soccer (and lots of college and high schools games, too). If you prefer the arts, there's world class opera, symphony, chamber music, theatre, choral music, dance, and comedy clubs. Popular music? Everything from country to rock to rap (we have our own style) to jazz pretty much every night of the week. Shopping? Apparently you've never been to The Galleria (or Willowbrook, or Deerbrook, or West Oaks, or The Woodlands, or Memorial City, or Rice Village, or River Oaks, or..... Clubs? The Richmond Strip is gone, but Main Street is the place to be these nights. Eating? Houston has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the U.S.--and it's not all steak (hit Chinatown on Bellaire, for example--but it helps if you read Mandarin). Then there's the museums, the movie theatres (including two IMAXs and a number of eat 'n watch places), bookstores, the downtown skatepark, Hermann Park, the zoo, outdoor festivals/concerts (the Turkish Festival competed with the Indian Festival just down the street this year, and that was followed by the Greek Festival).... I don't understand how anyone can be bored in Houston!
BTW, that's not the ocean, that's the Gulf of Mexico, which has excellent surfing. |
