What is the rides most worth waiting for in Disney World? |
I'm going to Disney soon and I'm wondering what rides are most worth the long wait. I understand that an hour may be a long wait but I'd be willing to wait that long, I have before. I'll be going again next year too, is there anything that I should save to go on then? Additional Details I really like the thrill rides so I'm mostly interested in those. (Coasters, drop rides, etc) |

Here are some of my favorites that are totally worth the wait.
Magic Kingdom -
Space Mountain
Thunder Mtn. Railroad
Buzz Lightyear's space ranger spin
Pirates of the Caribbean
Also, Spectromagic (night time lighted parade)
and the Wishes fireworks show
Epcot -
Soarin'
Test Track
Illuminations (night time fireworks and laser show)
MGM -
Aerosmith Rock 'N' Roller Coaster
Tower of Terror
Indiana Jones Stunt Show
Extreme Stunt Show
Star Tours
Fantasmic (night time show)
Animal Kingdom -
Expedition Everest
Kilimanjaro Safari
It's Tough to be a bug
There are a ton of other attractions, but these are my most favorite that are worth waiting for. Many of the others don't have a long wait, for example It's a Small World. It moves pretty quick even when it's busy.
If you want to check out the descriptions of the rides and attractions check out the Disney website. Also, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website that you can get a ton of info on, including ask questions, get trip reports, tips on avoiding crowds, dining reviews, resort reviews, and much more. I put both links below.
Hope this helps, have a great trip!! |

WEll, they have the thing called a Fastpass. First you visit the ride, grab a ticket, and usually about an hour later....you go through the fastpass line and BAM you're on the ride in all about 2 minutes..... |

Definitly Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, Spaceship Earth( the big golf ball), and Splash Mountain. The animatronics look so real you actually feel like you are in the film. |

I will answer park by park
Magic Kingdom: Splash Mountain
Epcot: Mission Space
MGM: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest
An hour is an average wait, but we have waited longer. Expedition Everest was 98 minutes, Soaring California 92 minutes. But it was worth it. I always say plan for the wait, bring a book, Ipod, play a game, have fun during the wait.
If you want to save one, wait for Expidition Everest it is so new everyone wants to ride. |

Expedition everest, it's relatively new in comparison to the others, so there's bound to be a bit of a wait, but not too bad if you're going out of seaon.
Also rock n roller coaster,
Tower of terror,
Splash mountain..
Actually, try get on every single ride!!!
Enjoy!!!!!!!! |

there is an option now that you don't have to wait at all you just pick up a ticket and a time when you can ride and you don't have to wait |

You need tourguidemike.com and fast. You'll never wait in line for more than 10 minutes for anything-even during the busiest times! You're spending a fortune on this trip, what's another $20 to make it worth it all! |

Most rides at disney world will not have longer than an hours wait unless it is midday, peak season and the top ride. The best rides for you are:
Tower of Terror - Super drop ride and great que line
Rock n Rollercoaster - Brilliant fast coaster
Space mountain - Cool coaster, cool que line
Splash mountain - Fun, long and wet ride
Expedition Everest - A must for you! Excellent coaster great que line too.
Dinosaur - Underated, a good que line once your inside and a really fun exciting ride.
Soarin - Fun and cool
Of course you can also get fast passes which cut your que time way down! Dont forget universal studios too!
Have a great time |

Use FastPass every chance you get but sometimes FastPass will be out and it's either stand in line or dont ride it. The FastPass for Space Mountain was out the first time i was there and i took of a video of the crazy long line that said 2 hrs. The line was soooo long that it went across that whole big open area and if u went in it it'd be hard to figure out the line from the crowd. We didnt go on it. Same thing happened at Epcot the second time we went. It was for Soarin and was 1 hr wait. It seemed like forever but was worth it. Some lines look decieving like at Magic Kingdom, i was told to not miss Peter Pan's Flight and the line didnt look long so i waited FOREVER in it b/c of all these hidden areas you cant see from the outside, the line just kept weaving all over the place! NOT worth it!!!! Splash Mountain was the same way, and we had got up almost to inside the building and then they changed how the line was with their ropes and such, which totally made our wait even longer, that was Terrible!! i thought, oh i dont need FastPass -at that time it was my first visit and wasnt real sure about how it worked, i found out the hard way. Splash Mountain was cool though. It's a pretty long ride too. Use the single rider lines if possible. Me and my bf went on that line for Test Track at Epcot. It was just as fast or faster than the Fast Pass line. We ended up in the same car, just one in front and one in back. Not a big deal, well worth the time savings. |

Please do not ever wait an hour for anything at Walt Disney World - there is no reason to ever do that if you have a good touring plan.
You'll want a plan that provides good "Best Days" information - that is information that tells you which park will have the lowest relative crowd levels for each day of your trip. Lower relative crowds mean lower lines.
Then you can really avoid the long lines by having a plan that factors in crowd traffic patterns within a park. You can wait less than 10 minutes for Dumbo (just as an example) if you do that as soon as the park opens but the wait can be over 3 hours long later in the day because Dumbo (& Astro-Orbitor) has low capacity and slow loading speeds.
Planning Disney vacations is what I do for a living and I can generally create custom touring plans that let you do the rides - including the "Headliners" like "Expedition Everest" with waits of 20 minutes or less. There are a couple of exceptions - for example, "Finding Nemo - The Musical" was brand new this year and only had 3 shows per day so lining up about 45 minutes early was necessary. They've added 2 shows so that is relieved. But they've dropped "Lights, Motors, Action!" (Disney-MGM Studios) to just two shows daily so I would probably have you enter that show early if the crowd levels are going to be fairly high during your visit.
For doing your own plan, the only two touring plans I recommend are "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" and "Tour Guide Mike".
The Birnbaum Official Guide has very good general information about rides, restaurants and hotels but isn't specific enough if you're dealing with crowds at all.
The DK/ Eyewitness guide to WDW has nice pictures and some good general information but their plans are really horrible, if your goal is to avoid long lines. |
