The people above who never tip their maid are lucky that someone has come in, changed their towels, and cleaned their sheets. Besides being rude, it is just plain cheap not to tip. I concur with the people below, two dollars a day, per person, unless you are a huge slob. Then more. I've never heard of leaving money everyday-- I've only left a bigger amount at the end-- but now I may divide it up-- I never assumed that there were different maids everyday (how silly of me) |

1 -2 dollars per day depending on length of stay & how classy the hotel is. If you are overnighting it at the Super 8, leave a buck if you feel the need. If you are staying at the a more upscale Hyatt or Inter-continental for several days, the crew is washing your sheets, & offering a turn-down service (fold the sheets down & leave a chocolate on your pillow) then leave several bucks at once you leave. |

We leave a dollar or two every day as you may not have the same maid every day. If you leave big mess I would tip a little more. |

When I worked as a maid the typical amount was $2 per day, but more if you are a disgusting pig. It is nice to recieve it daily, but if you are leaving it just at the end $20 is a good tip for a week long stay. However, unless you have the same maid every day, it is better to leave the tip in the room daily for whoever happens to clean your room that day! |

A couple dollars should be sufficiant. Don't wait till till the last day because the same maid dosent always clean the same rooms all the time. Hope this helped you out...........Flo |

i have never left a tip for a hotel maid, but its probably about time I did. I will make an effort to change my habits. As for the amount, i suppose it depends on what she looks like....:) |

I personally have never tipped my hotel maid. If you are staying at a fancy hotel, leave them a decent amout (around $10) on the last day. If you are staying at the red roof, super 8 etc., I wouldn't leave a tip. Tipping at hotels is unusual, but the occasional person does it. |

It depends on how many are in your party and how many nights you stay . In a 3-star hotel I think$3- $5 per day is OK( per person -if exceptional service ). |

When you go to a restaurant you tip 15% for a waiter/waitress that spends about 30 seconds taking your order. A chambermaid spends about 30 minutes per day on your room. 15% of your final bill is only fair. |

Leave on the last day. Ask the front desk for their suggestion. |
