South carolina is the worst state. We have the worst drivers and we have a complete idiot who is the only governer who is not accepting the stimulus money TO HELP US EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE TO PAY IT BACK EVEN IF WE DON'T TAKE IT. I hate this state and can't wait until the economy gets better so my wife and I can get the hell out of here

I don't really know. Each of the states have a variety of people and places. I guess I would have to say whatever state finishes #50 in education would be the worst.

form the WORST STATE would be TEXAS, on the Other hand i think the best state to live is Washington state. Texas is filled with red-neck-religious freaks. who throw full cans of beers at you just for fun, jobs suck, and way underpaid.

Having lived in numerous states, I can tell you that each has it's own relative merits over another. Your broad brushing the entire South as "it sucks" shows you really don't know what you're talking about. You need to travel a little more, Sir.

Ohio sucks I am from Michigan Michigan does not suck. we have the great lakes and over 1,000 inland lakes plus hundreds of rivers. lake michigan has the best beaches and a beautiful shore line. we also have over 300 waterfalls. I am so sick of people putting down my state like the - man did. i love my state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am offended by your statement. I don't think the south sucks at all. I think all states offer different things for different people. If you grew up in a big city that's always busy, you may not enjoy living in the south. That doesn't mean it's not a good place to live...it just doesn't have what you are looking for. Just like a person who is used to living in a quiet, small town may not enjoy living in New York or California. That doesn't mean they are not good places to live. Once again, they may not have what that person is looking for. I am a southerner and I am very proud of who I am. However, I have respect for the U.S as a whole. Even though we come from different places, we still take pride in who we are. That's the beauty of being an American.

I don''t think you can have a worst state. You can have states you wouldn;t want to live in and states you disagree with politically, but even the states that you don''t like politically have things worth seeing.

I agree that politically the south is way behind and I am certainly against the Bible belt, but think of some of the sight that are worth seeing, I''m not going to sit her and write them out, but even Texas has things worth seeing.
I agree that for living and for diverse cultures Calif and NY have it over the most other states, but for both of those states, it is the cities that are liberal. Go out of the cities in Calif and you end up in Orange county, which is changing but has been known to be one of the most right wing places in the world.
For NY, we have the city, but there too, there are 5 boros, and don''t forget Staten Island, the land of Republicans. Not all of the city is Democrat. In a way thankfully we are a country as diverse as the entire world and you can be what you want where ever you want, and well, if you don't fit in pack your bag and move to a place that suits you, there's some thing for everyone.

hm... i'm from the south and i have to say, i think it's better than where ever you live because at least i learned how to spell. it's boring. and a lot of the south IS diverse. go to school.

Houston, Texas..it's as HOT as Hell and they get about 1 month of winter which is like 50 degrees yet they all have a fireplace in the apts.
