One thing I can tell you is that Michigan is probably the worst place on Earth, not just the US, to have to live. Well, that's my personal experience anyway. I could make a really long detailed list as to why MI sucks so bad, lol.

As for the best I think that totally depends on what you're looking for. Out of the states I have lived in (VA, UT, MI, & TX) I definitely think Texas is the best.

You'd be hard pressed to find a Texan that didn't think that though. It's just who we are down here, lol.

I shouldn’t tell you about Idaho as its great . Just stay away from all the big cities. No its not all about potatoes as some may think. We have the The Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness is a protected area in the states of Idaho and Montana, in the northwestern United States. At 1.3 million acres (5,300 km²), it is one of the largest designated wilderness areas in the United States. It spans the Bitterroot Mountain Range, on the border between Idaho and Montana. It covers parts of Bitterroot National Forest, Clearwater National Forest, Lolo National Forest, and the Nez Perce National Forest. The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area is immediately to its south, separated only by a dirt road (the Magruder Corridor). Together with adjoining unprotected public land, the two wilderness areas form a five million acre (20,000 km²) wild region. I must warn you if you are thinking about moving here we are very selective as who we let in.
In the western part of the US Nevada is hell on earth. There is an old prophecy that someday a large earthquake will cause Nevada & California will slip off into the Pacific. Once this happens Idaho will have ocean front property.

worst for what and best for what?? each state is unique and good and bad for what it is. one of the best though is virginia, has one of the lowest unemployment rates, income is one of the highest in the country, and it has a very diverse geographic profile and the people are real nice there too. I lived there for over 20 years.

If you want a job, don't come to Michigan. We are in a recession, no one can sell their home and small businesses are dropping like flies. Yea, we pretty much have a mess in this state. Go anywhere but Michigan.
