There are a lot of music-related events all the time in Chicago, check out ticketmaster or something...
If you are 21, I'd recommend a place called "Howl at the Moon". It's a nightclub/bar that features some great music, often with dueling pianos that you can request songs... a great time.
I live in Chicago, and still enjoy Millenium Park, so I wouldnt say it's touristy at all.
As far as eating, there is alot of good food. One place is Greektown where there a number of amazing Greek restaurants. Just west of the loop @ intersection of Halsted/Jackson.
I'd recommend taking a tour of the architecture, since that is one of Chicago's greatest features. There are many diff options here, contact There is a tour by boat that should be running by this time of year, but check into that.
http://www.architecture.org/ this site will give you any info you need on the architecture stuff.
If you can get your hands on Cubs tickets, Wrigley field is one of the oldest and most famous parks around. Idk if you are into sports? |

Catch a Cubs game (might be hard to find tickets because it's Cubs vs. W. Sox weekend) and go to Wrigleyville. If you can't get into one of the games you can still go to Wrigleyville to hangout. All the bars are Cubbie themed and you can't go down there on a Sat. night and not have a good time. |

i don't know how old you are, but there's always the bucktown/wicker park area to explore as well as the clark and belmont neighborhood. the further outside the confines of the loop and michigan avenue you go, the greater the opportunity to avoid tourist trap like restaurants. there's a street fair going on this weekend if the weather is decent and you're up for being around a lot of chicagoans.
Lakeview Mayfest, May 18–20 3100 N Ashland Ave at Barry St. Fri 5–10pm; Sat, Sun noon–10pm. $5. |

Dressage all the way!

Go to Navy Pier. Also the museums are great. For places to eat, try Rush St. They have some great restaurants like Gibson's Steakhouse, Carmichael's and the Tavern on Rush. Division is another great street. Bring a jacket though, it can get chilly by the lake! Also, visit Brookfield Zoo it is very big and well kept! |

Hit up P.F. Changs on Wabash for some good food
And my best part of my trip was watching two taxis ram each other in front of the sears tower so keep an eye out for angry drivers, haha. |
