First of all there are a bunch of hotels that have essentially water parks for guests. The Mandalay Bay has the biggest and best wave pool sand beach pool out there, plus it has a lazy river for tubing. You could stay busy all day with that. The MGM and Monte Carlo hotels also have wave pools and lazy rivers. The Flamingo has a great pool with a water fall and a water slide, not big but very refreshing and I enjoy it all the time. Tell parents to consider these hotels for you.

In addition, there is a place called "Game Works" which is next door to the MGM, across from NY,NY that has all of the video type games any kid could want. (look for the Coke bottle).

At the other end of the strip is the Circus Circus hotel and casino and it has a huge arcade full of arcade games, circus acts every half hour, and if that's not enough, an indoor amusement park with roller coaster rides and stuff. At the Sahara hotel just upo the street from Circus Circus there is a roller coaster ride, and also one at NY, NY. There are rides atop the Stratisphere tower if you have the heart for them.

There are movie theaters right on the strip, near the MGM and also in the Palms Hotel across from the RIO hotel on Flamingo Avenue. There is also a bowling alley in the Gold Coast Hotel on Flamingo Ave next to the RIO( also a good place for a lower priced buffet) and another bowling alley in the Orleans.

Now if that not enough to keep you busy, tell the parents to take you to:

Red Rock Canyon. Its about 20 miles West of Las Vegas out Charleston Blvd (you can pick up that street at the north end of the Strip) Its a scenic drive-through park. Go early, not in the heat of the day; there's no shade.

Drive about 20 miles north of Vegas to Valley of Fire State Park.

Drive about 30 miles southeast of Vegas and go to Hoover Dam; the National Park Service offers tours (@ $15.) there and its interesting stuff. Go on past Hoover dam to Boulder City and then to Lake Meade for a swin. Also, there are tour companies that will take you on a cruise of the river below the Dam.

Its a long drive (about 2-3 hours each way), but you can drive up I-15 to Zion National Park and back in one day.

The drive to the Grand Canyon is 5 hard hours on mostly 2 lane road with trucks and campers (a short way on I-40). You can drive there and back in one day if you leave early morning, like 6:00-7:00 Am. That will put you there about noon and you will have 4 or 5 hrs before starting back and egtting back to Vegas about 11:00PM. I recommend staying overnight at the Canyon (there are plenty of motels near there, like Best Western, Ramada, Quality inns) and drive back the next day.

Drive about an hour and a half south of Vegas on I-15 and take RT-127 to Death Valley National Park (total drive may be 3 hrs each way).

You can go to circus circus- there is a theme park inside, games for kids, etc... Also a lot of the casinos have roller coasters, virtual reality arcades, and you can also go to the mirage and see the sharks and dolphins.

ChicagoParty5420
Just walk around look at stuff, go into stores, laugh at the crazy las vegas hobos. You can still have fun without gambling or drinking.

Go to New York New York up to the roller coaster, lots to do there.

PinkPansy
Go to the top of the Stratosphere tower - rides! Poke around the downtown light show in the PM. Check out the Fashion Show Mall - opposite the new Wynn. The Forum Shops at Caesars are chic and there are also free shows there for anyone - check the back corridor and ask at the Information booth. Go to the Venetian and see the gondola, canals and the singing gondoliers and the shops - they also have free entertainment in the 'plazas'. Visit the Harley-Davidson restaurant - lots to see. Go to Mandalay Bay - they have a spectacular Aquarium - there is an entrance fee. New York New York has one of the best roller coasters in the country - only $10. MGM Grand has lions - real ones; and an amusement area. Circus Circus has an amusement park, too but it's a little lame. The Flamingo has acres of pools and a wild exotic bird sanctuary - there is no entry fee (go to the area in the rear of their casino). Ride the monorail for a great look at all these places.

There is a ton of places to go hiking. I recommend Mt. Charleston, Red Rock, Valley of Fire (one of my favories). There are a couple of IMAX movie theatres in town, as well as several magic shows in the daytime (Mac King show is good). There are a few arcades and internet cafes.

If you skate, the city has a couple of skate parks. Also, a couple of municipal swimming pools (although I haven't gone to them before).

Unfortunately, most of the joys of Vegas are for people 21 and over... and I think they get boring after a couple of weeks (unless you are chock-full of money or love gambling).

There are water parks and such. My son's friend spends some weeks there each summer and seems to enjoy it. He is 15. Try using the Yahoo travel site for more info, or find a site for the Las Vegas tourism bureau. It is a large city, with a million people in the metro area, and has all that any other city of similar size has.

alsmithjpsnet
Sorry kid, that's a tough one. See if they will let you go to the Stratosphere or other hotel/casino that has a game room for kids. I know that the Stratospeher does in the shopping area it has, but I don't know of any others. Try Google'ing it before you go. Good Luck.

Vegas has GREAT Cirque du Soleil shows that are fun to watch (make sure the folks win big as its pricey) but if you are in vegas you should see one of the spectacular magic or cirque shows. There are also lots of animals in vegas. You can go see the flamingos/penquins at the hilton, live lions at the MGM, the mandalay bay has a sharf reef aquarium, the Mirage has white tigers and dolphins, etc. The roller coasters are great too-Don't miss the one at the sahara-60mph in 60 seconds I think-different rush. Lots of shopping too-(yes, malls are there!)
