The Navy Pier is really nice too. You can take boat rides out on Lake Michigan and see the skyline, makes for some pictures! Also the Hard Rock Cafe is next to the Rainforest Cafe, which is convenient and also worth checking out. I don't know how much you're into science but I found the Art Institute way more entertaining than the Science and Industry museum.

the shedd is amazing.. I'd also recommend taking the riverboat architecture tour. I've alway wanted to check out the museum of holography... The Art Institute is amazing, Milenneum Park is awesome... Hancock building... Lincoln park zoo... Checking out some of the neighborhoods is cool too, china town, the argyle street vietnamese neighborhood, devon street

Rainforest Cafe? Why? That's not a "Chicago" thing. Those places are scattered around the country and are the same everywhere you go. Try Pizzeria Uno (http://www.frommers.com/destinations/chicago/D31570.html) or the Italian Village (http://www.italianvillage-chicago.com/) or Miller's Pub (http://www.frommers.com/destinations/chicago/N27326.html), which are all REAL Chicago restaurants, not that fake stuff.

As far as other tourist attractons, I'd recommen navy Pier (though it's a bit fake too), Buckingham fountain, the lakefront bike/jogging paths, Old Town (North Ave and Wells) and in particular the Second City comedy club and the Museum of Science and Industry (far south, but not too hard to get to. It's got great scenery around it). I'd also recommend the Midway Plaisance near the University of Chicago, but it might be a little difficult for a tourist to get to (It's a long stretch of grass in the middle of the campus that is filled on the weekend with people playing touch football, Frisbee, softball, etc. A great park area.)

The shedd aquarium is the best.
or the science and industry, or bronzeville museum, we have so many things to see here. There is a city pass available to let you see 5 different museums in 9 days at a excellent price.
Search Chicago museums and look it up. sorry i don't know the website and have no time to look it up right now. Have fun and enjoy our city.

Hello Jez!

I was born in Chicago and lived within an hour the first twelve years of my life. Then my family moved to California, and I did not have an opportunity to return for more than four decades! I loved Chicago!!! We visited in winter so we did not do many outdoor activities. My favorite activity was one I remembered fondly from my childhool - a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. All of the exhibits which enchanted me as a child, the farm with chicks hatching in an incubator, the mining exhibit, the human heart, the turn-of-the-Century stores are still there as is the fantastic dollhouse. Of course, my memories are slanted from a female's memory!!! Keep this place in mind for a day when it is too muggy or rainy for outdoor activities rather than spending it in your hotel room. You will not be disappointed! My husband would say that his favorite was the view from the top of the Sear's Building. Chicago has plenty to offer. Enjoy your trip!!!

Wrigley is a must. SearS Tower is a good sight, and still can technically be called the worlds tallest building. John Hancock building has a bar on the 97th floor. Ride the el, and get a feel for the locals. The two museums are awesome. Navy Pier that time of year is a good time. Plus visit Rush street good times, lots of bars.

cubby bear bar, as a matter of fact theres a bar on every corner around the ball park! Its a blast, even if you just drink soda. Museums are great esp Science and Industry! If the Cubs are doing well in sept. You will plan your days around wriggley. Do yourself a big favor and buy your tickets now! Even if you don't go you'll be able to sell them, trust me!
Lincoln Park Zoo is pretty cool. Brookfield is better, not to far away. I don't know what you like to do, concerts, plays, second city is a blast! FUNNY!!!! Jazz clubs, Park west is a great nite club, depends on whos booked when you're going to be there. whew, is that enough. Chicago Rocks, the rest of the state,um not so much. In fact the motto is There is no life south of the city. Growing up there, trust me its true.
