Colorado for me. The mountains, all year round pursuits, the weather - all four seasons, people and just the sheer beauty of the place itself... I could go on. It is by far my favorite state. |

In the US the states can sometimes be very big and you can love one part of a state and not another. I have found in traveling in the US and in the world for that matter, everyplace you go has it's own special beauty and special treats. Very few places have no redeeming qualities. For example you like New Jersey....but a quote from a famous movie says...Why is New Jersey called the Garden State? Because petrochemical and oil refinery state won't fit on the license plate!
I like most of Texas, the area around Houston and the Oil refinery areas can be a little ugly but the South Padre Coast is beautiful. The hill country in and north of San Antonio is wonderful with lots to do and normally nice weather. The plains area around Dallas/Ft Woth is nice but a little windy. West Texas is nice if you like a nice arid flat area with lots of dirt devils.
Hawaii is certainly one of my favorite places, I prefer the Big Island or any other island over Oahu but that is because Oahu has been over developed. I did however, live on Oahu for 4 years.
I love Colorado, especially around Colorado Springs.
I prefer Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area over the Los Angeles area.
In the fall you can't beat the eastern seaboard states and New England for beauty.
But for a really lovely holiday, I would suggest Arizona. It is everything that John Ford wanted to say about America. Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff/Sedonna, Tombstone is neat. My personal favorite city is Scottsdale. And of course you can always go to Lake Havasou and see the London Bridge.
Not to leave out the midwest, I recently went to Michigan and was pleasantly surprised by the beauty. My thoughts of the whole state had been colored by Detroit and I thought the whole state was a hugh industrial cesspool. Actually the greater Detroit area (Birmingham, Dearborn, Grosse Point) is nice too.
Guess you just need to get a motor caravan and spend a few years seeing the whole country |

I'm a fan of Washington State. I've lived her most my life, but been all over the place, and I have to say that it's the most beautiful place in the United States. I'm pretty partial to any state in which you can go to the ocean. So I like New York as well, as that is a place I have fond memories of as well. |
