Honestly? Well since you asked... Generally, I don't like Texans. My impression of them (albeit possibly an unfair impression) is that they are self indulgent, egotistical, blow hards. And WAAAAAY to proud to be Texans. I think they'd rather Texas be it's own country again.
Sorry.... nothing personal. 8-)
I will add this: I do know a couple Texans personally, and once they proved to me THEY did not fit my stereotype, I liked them a lot. |

#2:texans do not ride a freaking pony to school. we are ust like anyone else from any other state. except we are nicer and better drivers and our education system is better. |

It's big, it's flat, and it's usually hot. All the folks I've met from Texas are very nice, though, so I have a nice impression of the people. I've also heard, from almost all of my Texas friends, that it's the only place in the whole wide world where they do barbecue right.
My Texas friends are the only ones I've heard who actually say "dadgum!" |

I think most of their people show good hospitality and are kind to visitors. Some might be a little 'extreme country' (to put it nicely). I think some are a tad stuck up, esp. when it comes to some of their athletic teams |

I lived in the Houston area for five year a while back. Texas..the state, hot the Houston area very humid. I liked the Austin and San Antonio area. San Antonio was one of the prettiest cities that I have ever been to. Dallas flat concrete very fake and superficial. Don't know that much about west Texas.
As for Texans, the didn't seem to like people from the "northern" states very much. They always referred to me as a "yankee". Claimed that Texas was the greatest state in the nation when in fact they had never traveled outside of Texas and had no experience with other cultures. I found them to be friendly in person but preferred to associate with other Texans. That was my experience. |

yall are mean, yeah, mabey we may be better than everyone else! our atletics kick butt, our education kicks butt, and our arts kick butt. we don't wear big hats, we don't ride ponys to school, and not everybody has an accent. if texas wasn't so great then why would so many people from california be moving here? also we have outstanding music programs, i have friends from other states that wish they could be in our bands. also by ms band just got accepted into a world wide contest, that only the best bands participate in.
and the only reason i may sound stuck up now is because i just though i would throw that into the face of all yall charactorizers.
and J s you're a queer and a steer all in one. ( if you even know what a steer is ) |

I don't have any negative perceptions of Texas, but we moved to Oklahoma a few years ago from the west coast, and were surprised at how many oklahomans talk bad about Texas. One thing we hear all the time is "when the wind comes from the north, it's because Texas sucks". I think that's kinda rude of them to say.
I think it has a lot to do with oklahomans loving their college ball games, and I guess Texas is a rival or something. I don't follow sports, so I could care less.
Texans I have met are very nice people, go out of their way to be polite, something you NEVER see on the west coast. |

Regionalism is a word that inspires my perception of Texas. I'm from Michigan, have visited Dallas, Houston, Sherman, and Lake Jackson, TX. My perception of a typical Texan as being rebellious and proud. I also have the perception that most Texans know how to embellish a good story. You know, I think I get most of my impressions of Texans from stories I read in historical novels. The people whom we know who live in Texas don't fit these stereotypes. |

I'm from New York. I think of tall hats, ranches and horses. My drill sergeant always said only 2 things come from Texas. Steers and Queers. |
