Hey, it's great to see someone else my age on here! ;) Haha
Well, I live in Florida and I have been to all of the Disney parks and resorts. All Star's a great place for kids - it's really rad. :) Rooms are nice, but small, and the place is decorated beautifully.
As for what to hit? Hm, there's so much to do! Here's the rundown...
MAGIC KINGDOM:
It's very difficult to navigate Magic Kingdom this kind of year, so I'll try and make this really clear...(you may need a map of the park to undertstand what I'm saying)
GET THERE EARLY! No later than 7 AM.
First, get a fastpass for Splash Mountain. Then hop on to the ride next door, Thunder Mountain (residents call it Runaway train for some reason.) The line'll be fairly short, and that ride's a real blast! Then, skip on back to Splash Mountain and use your fastpass - you'll get on in like, ten minutes. This whole process will take you about an hour or two - and once you're done, the park's really gonna full up fast. Some people may tell you to ride Haunted Mansion, but personally I think it's a waste of time. Instead, keep going on through from FrontierLand to FantasyLand. (I think that's the next one..) Once there, use that magic fastpass again and get a fastpass for Philhar Magic. Literally THE BEST THING at Magic Kingdom. Now you have an hour or two to kill, so perhaps you want to shop around a little, or ride It's a Small World or Dumbo, which are both in the vicinity. If you're there around noonish, Ariel the Mermaid will make an appearance in the Lagoon just north of Philhar Magic and that's always entertaining for the little ones. :) I think your sister will enjoy her. Once you've done Philhar Magic, you can continue around the circle. Most tourists go counterclockwise around the circle (start at FantasyLand and end at FronteirLand). But since you went from Frontierland and continued clockwise, you're really not hitting any big crowds until about noonish, one o'clock. Now's a great time to scoot on over to FutureLand. Grab a fastpass for Space Mountain, and eat while you wait. There aren't many good restaurants in Magic Kingdom, but I know there's a pretty decent cafe somewhere in Futureland. :) I also reccomend Buzz Lightyear's Star Command ride - it's kindof lame, but realllly funnn!
EPCOT
Not a lot to see here, really. Try hitting up the rides in this order: Mission Space (please note that this ride is NOT for people with heart problems, as we've had issues with people dying on it. lol. Reallly fun ride though.), Test Track, Soarin'. If you go in that order, you should be able to beat the crowds. There's a place here called "The Land" right outside Soarin', and it's a pretty nifty place to eat. :) If you're interested in science, there's also a boat ride around The Land that takes you through NASA's garden, and it's pretty amazing. After that, you can walk around the circle! There are a whole bunch of smaller attractions here, and plenty of live shows. The Chinese Dragon Benders are astounding, as are the American Civil War Soldiers and such. Very cool.
MGM
My favorite park. Ever. First moment you get there, head right on the first outstreet and RUN to Tower of Terror and RocknRoller COaster. Grab a fastpass for Tower of Terror, as that line adds up really fast, and scoot on over to RocknRoller Coaster. I also reccomend the Xtreme Stunt Show (it's great!) and the Indiana Jones show. To eat, there's a little fifties diner in NYC that's a blast - you get to sit in old cars and watch a movie and eat burgers and shakes and stuff. Very fun.
OTHER
I really reccomend that you also take a peek at Downtown Disney one night. It's often overlooked by tourists, but it's a real hotspot and it's LOADS of fun. The younger kids will get a kick out of LegoLand, where there are moving lego sculptures the size of small buildings. Also, the restaurant Rainforest Cafe is AMAZING. It rains INSIDE the restaurant! Really outstanding place; you and your family really should eat there one night.
That's all I can think of right now! Have fun in the Sunshine State! :D |
