Ok so I am planning my 30th birthday and I am going to Vegas with my husband. We will be there for 3 days. What shouldn't we miss. Where should we stay? What shows are great and what resturaunts should we go to. This is our first visit and I am pumped I don't want to waste any time so please let me know the best places to go..

Here are a few places and things I LOVE to do while in vegas:

1. Drink at clubs and lounges - RAIN (PALMS casino) and PURE (Caesar's Palace) are amongst the best two clubs with the best dance floors, decor, and setup. There is also Tao (Venetian) and Tangerine (Treasure Island) which havea a great atmosphere. Tabu (MGM Grand) and Rum Jungle (Mandalay Bay) are great lounges to just hang out in and drink at. Lastly, the Voodoo Lounge a top of the Rio is a GREAT bar with a breathtaking view of the city and vegas skyline.

2. If you're into rides, then the roller coaster at NEWYORK NEWYORK casino is the best roller coaster in Vegas. There is also the Big Shot and INSANITY rides atop of the Stratosphere Casino (with the best views in the city, as good as a helicopter view). There are also rides at Circus Circus and Sahara, but they are a little more for kids, but still fun.

3. Eat at buffets and other great restaurants. Buffets like Bellagio's or Wynn's have trancended the common buffet of stale food. They serve gourmet dishes like Kobe beef and hand made desserts. Great food, good service, clean and fun atmosphere. You'll definately enjoy this. There are also mediocre, but good deal buffets at Luxor, MGM Grand, and Monte Carlo.

4. Watch the sunrise by staying up all night and partying and then seeing the drunks and broke gamblers barely make it back to their hotel rooms in the early morning. It is the quietiest time in Vegas, and a little relaxing. You can really see how Vegas can ruin you for those that you see are completely distraught over losing - but its a good way to keep your sanity while you there.

5. Go swimming and treat yourself to a massage. This will be fun. When you get out of the pool, you can feel the heat radiating on your back and your feet will feel warmer than getting out of the pool anywhere else. It feels good, and then getting a massage later will be the perfect way to settle into a fun night. Something about swimming in the heat as the sun is going down in the Vegas desert is relaxing and calming. This will cost little to nothing.

6. You can shop at the FORUM in Caesar's Palace or the Passage at the Hollywood Planet Casino. They have the widest selection and the nicest shops. There is, of course, the Las Vegas Premium Outlets just off the strip that any taxi can take you to - good deals there!

7. You can watch the fountains at Bellagio, the Fremont Street Light Show in downtown, the SIRENS at Treasure Island (which is a fairly GOOD show that is FREE) and catch a Cirque Du Soleil show (such as KA at MGM Grand or 'O' at Bellagio - those are my favorite). Just enjoy yourself and have fun, dont plan out every little thing.

Lucky you, have fun - wish I was going too. Hope this helps!
HAPPY 30th B-day!!

Forget about having a plan. It's your birthday celebration, go with whatever seems like a good idea at the time. Enjoy and Happy 30. P.S. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Have fun! that's the most important thing to do. If this is your first time, it's hard to imagine until you get there. Visit vegas.com that's a great website that shows the shows and other things going on.

See shows if you can. I recomend Mama Mia, it is wonderful. You may want to take in a Vegas production show. They are fun and a staple of Vegas. Or see one of the Circus Soleil shows...you won't be disappointed.

Walk the strip, take good shoes! Enjoy the time together. Don't gamble more than you set aside. Money is much better spent on food and shows.

Have fun!

Make sure you see the fountains in front of the Belagio hotel. I think the shows are every 15 or 30 minutes till around midnight.

The free show in front of Treasure Island is also pretty cool.

I suggest staying on the strip but be sure to visit the downtown area at night to see the light show, it's amazing.

Oh yeah, and go to the top of the Stratusphere. It's a fantastic view of the strip.

P.S.
Southwest Airlines have great vacation packages including airfare & hotels. I use them about every other year for my Vegas trip. I liked staying at Treasure Island and the Luxor, but did not like the Riveria. The Las Vagas Hilton was nice but is off the strip.

There's just too much to see so just see what you can and have fun!

First off, there are a lot of different ways to do Vegas. I'm going to answer this as if money is no problem and you're going to go all out.

Three days isn't a lot of time in Vegas; there's just a lot of stuff to see and do there. So make sure that you're hitting what you want to hit or you may find yourself just wandering around for 72 hours then going home.

What shouldn't you miss? The fountains of Bellagio are free, they happen every half hour (every 15 minutes in the evening) and they really shouldn't be missed. I've never seen Celine there, but I've never heard anyone say they didn't like it. You should definately do some shopping. There are three main places that you need to see for that; Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, I'm not sure what it's called now, but there's shopping in the new Planet Hollywood (formerly Alladin), and the Canal Shops at the Venetian. Caesar's palace shopping is by far the most expansive and enjoyable for me.

Where should you stay? On the strip!!! Preferably mid-strip. If money is no object I'd stay at either the Bellagio or Caesar's Palace. I realize that Caesar's palace is older, but trust me they keep it up. After those two I'd move out to some of the other mainstays like the Venetian, Mirage, Paris is actually mid-strip but I personally don't like it as much. Further toward the ends of the strip you have newer Wynn Las Vegas which his VERY nice but not really near anything else. On the other end you have the MGM, NYNY and at the very south end of the strip is Mandalay (again VERY nice). Mandalay is generally accepted as having the best pool area of any hotel on the strip mostly because it has a wave pool. It's definately a great option but you'll need to drive, take the mono-rail or walk a long way if you want to get to other places on the strip.
Luxor is next to Mandalay Bay but it's older and from my experience it's not as well maintained as other hotels on the strip.

Resteraunts is a HUGE question. There are so many great places to eat in Vegas. First, you have to realize that the old school mentality of cheap buffets is a thing of the past. A good buffet in vegas will cost you around $30 a person. But they are outstanding. My favorite buffet in Vegas is at Mandalay Bay. It overlooks their pool area, and at night (when the pool is closed) they light it up blue giving a very nice setting to your dinner. It is a sea-food buffet. Paris has a very nice one as well that has quite a few different French options. The Forum Shops have several restaurants scattered throughout it. Spago is there (I've never been hugely impressed by Spago myself). If you want really fine dining you may want to go to The Bellagio and try one of their finer dining places. I've only ever eaten at Circo, but it was outstanding. I've never been to Picasso, but I've heard it's great and you can enjoy looking at actual Picasso's throughout the establishment as you eat. That's kind of nice. Basically, there are restaurants for almost all tastes in all the major casinos on the strip. Nearly all of them will have a menu available to see outside the front entrance to give you an idea on what they serve. Most have pricing as well, but some of the finer (and therefore more expensive) ones don't. Kind of a "if you have you ask you can't afford it" kind of thing.

What shows to see is also a big question. Personally I've never been disappionted with a Cirque de Soleil performance and they're all over the strip. Right now "Love" at the Mirage is getting some hype. It's set to the music of The Beatles. Ka is at the MGM and is kind of newer, but I've never seen it. "O" is again at the Bellagio and is outstanding as is "La Reve" at the Wynn Las Vegas. If you're looking for something a little more risque there's Zumanity at the NYNY. It's still Cirque de Soleil, but with a more adult theme. Like I said earlier...Celine is supposed to be outstanding even if you don't like her music. Whatever show you see, plan on spending anywhere from $70 to $120 per person on it. I think Celine may even be more.

In the end you're going to have a great time no matter what. Vegas knows how to entertain and they make it very hard not to enjoy yourself. Just go have fun!

P.S. I know others have said to check out Fremont Street. Trust me, you can skip that. The light show is actually kind of impressive...once. Outside that there's nothing to see and it's really old, run down and honestly kind of scummy.

See some of the shows.. I heard Dita Von Teese performs there. :)

Definitely go to Fremont Street one night to watch the light show - you can get the bus to downtown, its very easy. You can also gamble and eat down there and drink foot long frozen cocktails really cheap!!

The fountains of Bellagio are one of my favourite things to do, they go off every half an hour from mid afternoon to 6ish and then every 15 minutes. You can pick up a schedule of songs from the front desk to see what is playing when. It's worth going into Bellagio just to have a look around at the opulence.

Go to the top of the Stratosphere - even if you aren't going to ride the thrill rides, the view is amazing especially if you go just before dusk so you see it getting darker and all the lights coming on.

If you have a car, for shopping, I would head out to Primm, its about a 40 minute drive but worth it for the discount stores, much cheaper than anywhere else in Vegas.

Also if you have a car, go to the Hoover Dam and have a look at the amazing feat of architecture.

You'll still have plenty of time for drinking, gambling etc! We've seen a few of the Cirque du Soleil shows, very expensive but worth seeing. Also, have a look on ticketmaster to see if there are any concerts - these are normally at the Hard Rock Hotel or MGM Grand.

I'm jealous - have a great time and happy birthday x

Geez. There is soooo much!!!!! Fine dining, shows, clubs, museums, shopping, rides, pools, helicopter tours. Specifically?

Go see a Cirque de Soliel show. All of them are good. I think the newest one is Le Reve at the Wynn. For comedy, Second City at the Flamingo is inexpensive, and hilarious.

Best clubs? Tao, Pure and Tryst, and the newest: LAX. Drais for afterhours.Get VIP passes to avoid wating in line forever.

During the day, hang by the pool...there is always fun stuff going on, if you are staying at a good hotel. Go to the shopping centers in Caesars, the Venetian, and Planet Hollywood. All very cool (they make it seem like you are outside in Italy, Greece, and Persia.)

For a good bar scene go to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville at the Flamingo, or Coyote Ugly in NYNY (only shots and beer there!)

For free stuff, watch the water show in front of Bellagio, and the Sirens in front on Treasure Island (TI).

Great restaurants? Mix at the top of Mandalay Bay is beautiful...best view of the strip. Famous Chef: Alaine Ducasse. If you are willing to take on a hefty bill, go to The Mansion at MGM. Its a tasting menu by Joel Robuchon, they only do 1 seating per evening, and the place only holds like 40 people...very intimate. Tom Collichio (the chef that is a judge on top chef) has a restaurant called Craftsteak also at MGM. MMMmmmmm. Want a seafood buffet? Go to the Flamingo tons of crab legs!

Where to stay? All of the hotels are good. I like to stay central on the strip. cheaper end of the spectrum: Flamingo. A little more luxe? Bellagio or Caesars. You walk a lot on the strip so being central is good. The Flamingo has a monorail station inside...very convenient. Have fun!
www.luxevegas.com is a great website for whats hot in LV
