What was your favorite area in Los Angeles? |
I'm looking at Craigslist and there seems to be all sorts of different areas that make up Los Angeles. Hollywood, Burbank, Beverly Hills, Venice Beach and so forth.
Which was your favorite and why? |

Santa Monica. It is by far the most beautiful place in all of LA, and it has nice shopping, an ocean, and a pier with rides. There is this one street that has long been blocked off for shopping, and the stors are a mix of what you would find in a mall, and some fun local things. Also at night there are always people who play music, and proffesional dancers who dance (yes, they are nut-jobs, but they are all harmless, and only looking for fame, while hopeing to score a few tips) Its a tripp to visit, and I would love to someday live there! |

I grew up in the 909 area (diamond bar) but there's nothing really to do here. OC is pretty close so usually go there. |

Where Universal Studios is. i think its North Hollywood. i love the atmosphere. theres so many movie studios and there have been a few times where ive actually seen people filming on the streets. its pretty cool. Rodeo Drive is really nice too. theres so many elegant boutiques and stuff, and even the restrooms are nice. |

Well, I grew up in the valley, so I'm slightly partial to that area. I feel as though it has all the benefits of LA without the crowdedness, AS MUCH traffic, or confusing directions!
However, I do LOVE Westwood and Santa Monica. It is just the prettiest area of LA and EVERYTHING is there. You have the beach, lots of shopping, great resturaunts, UCLA, dance clubs, comedy clubs, lots of celebrity sightings, beautiful sceanery, beautiful outdoor places to work out, and is close to almost everything else in LA. If your new to the area and want to learn your way around, the only way is going to be through trial and error. You can look up places to get started on http://losangeles.citysearch.com
But youll find the best places are the ones you stumble across. Westwood and Santa Monica are maybe the only places in LA conducive to walking (and youll very quickly find that driving is HASSLE with traffic and parking!) so take advantage and walk around the streets, stopping at whatever catches your eye. Oh and people are very friendly so dont feel shy to ask someone for advice on places to go. I once got the best resturaunt tips from some guy in the yogurt section of Whole Foods!
Have fun!!!! |

The Topanga Cyn area is the best. It's beautiful, not far from the beach, very eclectic, artsy and almost small town feeling. I Love it!! |

Top of Stunt Road in Malibu is a really nice view, on a clear day, beach on one side, city on the other. |

It depends what you are looking for. If you like the beach, the south bay communities of Manhattan beach, hemosa beach are good. Santa Monica, bentwood and westwood are more upscale but great areas on the west side. The only reason to check out the valley is because its cheaper than other parts of LA or if you work out there. For a more artsy vibe try silver lake and echo park and the arts district downtown. West Hollywood and Hollywood are where the best nightlife is. The thing to keep in mind is that LA is more of a region than just a city. In fact if you count the whole five county area its got a bigger population than Sweden and covers an area lager than Holland |

The most LA thing to do is in Downtown LA.
Sure, it's not the most cleanest and touristy place in LA but
the shopping is wonderful. Street vendors selling weird ethnic food, fake Gucci bags, real Versace suits at discount, discount perfumes, fine jewelry at the St. Vincent's, the California Mart, corn on the cob with mayo...
Next on my bohemian list is Venice Beach. Street performers and sightseers both make excellent pasttimes there. |

Personally I like the Santa Monica/Culver City/Beverly Hills area especially near UCLA! There are people of all kinds (businesses, beach, shopping, bars, clubs, restaurants, and student-life) at any time of the day and night. |

Eagle Rock is my favorite neighborhood. Occidental College makes it feel like a small college town in the midst of a big city. There are many lovely old, historic houses. There are great restaurants including the best pizza in LA (Casa Bianca) and Eagle Rock also has the hippest bar too (The Chalet). There's some cool shops, lots of trees and hills, a great mixture of working and middle class people and easy access to Old Town Pasadena, Downtown LA and the Valley. It's a bit trendy but worthy all of the hype.
my least favorite neighborhood...West LA. It's flat, sprawling and charmless. |
