What would you say is the longest road leading out of Detroit?

with out it's name changing in the middle or at the end, i'm thinking Gratiot ave. It starts down town Detroit and ends up in Port Huron, unless you know of a longer one.

Grand River's name changes to Cascade right before Grand Rapids in Boston, MI so it's about 130 miles from where it starts downtown Detroit. Gratiot goes from downtown to Marysville (just below Port Huron). That's like 60 miles. Michigan Ave. is 60 miles before it's name changes to Chicago. Telegraph on goes from Pontiac to Trenton so definitely not the longest. Van Dyke has name changes for a few miles here and there, but it's the second longest at 100 miles (ends in Bad Axe). These were all calculated using Google Maps so the distance is basically how many miles if you were to take the nearest freeway (very approximate). For example, I just typed "Detroit Gratiot" for the start and "Marysville Gratiot" for the end. So this doesn't include some twists and turns that Gratiot might take to make it a longer distance. But I would wager that Grand River is the longest w/o a name change.

I would say I-75 because it goes all the way to southern FL

The road Kwamie is taking looks like the longest to me.

Detroit Y
Gratiot is a good guess, but I think Michigan ave is a tad longer. It runs as US 12 from Detroit to Chicago and was known as the Great Sauk Trail back in the indian days.

As Michigan Ave it keeps that name almost to Jackson.

If you are ever looking a more interesting trip to Chicago, Michigan Ave is the way to go, but you better pack a lunch as it will take you a couple hours extra.

8 mile runs from Lake St. Clair all the way to Lake Michigan, but it changes names a few times. BaseLine, Territorial are just a couple of its names. Also, there are a couple of places in Jackso County I think where 8 Mile disappears into a swamp for awhile.

duh
I think Van dyke runs all the up to the thumb.

I agree with Detroit Y. I'm pretty sure its Michigan. Another possibility is Grand River.

Other than I94 which runs all the way to Washington state.
Telegraph road, it runs all the way down to Florida.

Faygo
I believe it's Michigan Ave. It goes all the way to Battle Creek.
