Depends on your interests. There's a lot to do. Taste of Chicago, Cirque Shanghai at Navy Pier, Water Tower, Millenium Park, Art Institute (free in the evening), Field Museum, Sky shows at Adler Planetarium, Oak Street Beach, Sears Tower, Hancock, etc. Take the trolley. It's free. ;) |

Lots of things! There are bars, great ethnic resturants (be sure to visit pizza uno for the original deep dish pizza, its amazing!), the theater (if you like that sort of thing, I believe Wicked it playing now) Museums (the museums are free on Tuesdays), the aquarium, dinner or lunch cruize on lake Michigan (Spirit of Chicago and Mystic Blue), Navy Pier, Sears Tower and of course shopping! (There's a H&M downtown) Hope that helps and enjoy my hometown! |

You'll be there on a Thurs so the museums should be less crowded than sat or sun...so take advantage of that.. go to the Shedd aquarium, the Art institute, then Millennium park or Grant park, Grant has Buckingham Fountain which is lit up at night.
If you wanna do Navy Pier, what about a lunch cruise of the lake..its rather expensive, but if you wanna splurge on something, do it.
For shopping...Michigan ave has expensive stores, its nice to just walk around that area if you dont wanna shop..or you can shop on State street with Macys, Old Navy and more.
Do you want to go to the beach?..theres Oak street beach and further north is North Ave beach..Lincoln Park Zoo [its free] is near North Ave beach. |

Pick something: Party, pick a restaurant, go shopping, sightseeing.
There are tons of tours downtown. Go to the Magnificient Mile for shopping and restaurants, go to navy pier off the lake, go to the taste it is over on the 8th tix cost $7 for a group of 11. Most items are 5-7 tix ea. but you can sample (called a taste) some portions for 3 tix. This is a great option if you've never had something but want to be daring. There is an African vendor there I think it's Bolata or something that has great oxtails (it's beef don't be alarmed). Have to have a vienna beef hot dog - chicago style w/everything - can't be the flavor and some homerun pizza. Skip the place w/beignets and jerk chicken they aren't authentic. Got to go to New Orleans for the beignets (there'sa great place in Atlanta and Fla. that serves them too) and Jamaica for the Jerk chicken and a couple of places in New York I could point you to also, have fun. Don't spend too much. If you drive park on State or Wabash or even on Michigan. Grab a $5 bus pass and ride the train and bus anywhere all day. This way you won't be stressed - if you need help ask a cta worker, the old lady standing next to you, the business man on the train platform, that cute guy or girl standing next to you or a cop (although some people live in the city and don't utilize public transportation so they'll be of little help to you). Also you can venture down to the museums, take a stroll on the lake front even rent some bikes or blades. Enjoy!!!!
Oh, yeah stop into a nice hotel (i.e. fairmont, wyndham, sheraton)m and ask the concierge for a WHERE magazine. It will tell you about clubs (types of music, etc.), shops, etc. |
