Ohare is in the northwest part of chicago and can take 30 minutes to get to downtown.
midway is in the southwest part of chicago and only takes 15 minutes.
I think both are ok, but depending on weather and traffic and parking can be problematic.
personally, i prefer Ohare for international travel and midway for short flights to florida and such! |

neither. I live in green bay, so i would fly down to miegs field. It was near the planetarium. It was a nice quiet and beautiful scened airport. But mayor Richard (jackass) Daley decided, with no warning, to close the airport, leaving the aircraft stranded their until AOPA (thanks phil boyer!!!!) fought like heck to open it back up, if anything, at least to remove Daleys machines off the runway so the planes that WERE parked there could at least move.
I loved that airport. It was right along the airport, and we could fly VFR along the lake shore right to the airport, and still be out of the crowd of Chicago (ohare) airspace. I miss that airport thought since dipshit closed it that i last heard |

Midway used to be better because it took 10minutes to reach your gate after security. Not anymore. O'Hare is more organized and convenient but takes a lot longer to navigate. |

Depends were you are going. I live downtown and always use O'Hare. It's usually cheaper and more convenient. Just be aware of the possible busy times (mornings, early evening) and know that since it is a bit of a hike to O'Hare that you need to give yourself more time at rush hour. |

O'hare is great, but large and very busy, but is everything a great metropolitan airport should be.
Midway is smaller, I prefer this to O'Hare because I am not a crowd person. I like to retrieve my bags quickly, so I can move on to what I'm doing, and while a wait, often much less than at O'Hare. not as many peole to Navigate, and most car rental kiosks are immediately accessible without going much further than past baggage check.
Hope this helps! |

O'Hare I know its just me but I don't like landing or taking off from really short runway's
The longest runway at Midway
runway 4R/22L is 6446 feet long
The shortest runway at O'Hare runway
4R/22L is 7500 feet long
The longest runway at O'Hare runway
14R/ 32L is13000 feet long
Chicago weather being what it is , I just like a little more space to play with |

Depends on where you are going in Chicago. If you are staying at a hotel downtown, just given the variety of flight options (and the long lines of cabs) available to you at O'Hare, it's probably the better choice. If you are staying on the south side (University of Chicago area) Midway is by far the superior choice. Much closer and much cheaper cab ride. Also some of the lower cost carriers (e.g., ATA) only fly into Midway, I believe-so that might tilt you to Midway depending on your choice of airline. Two very negative things about O'Hare: (1) cab rides: super expensive!! (2) it's the most delayed airport in the country (or the second-most-but I think it wins the title consistently as the most), which means you are very unlikely to either get there on time or leave on time. I flew out of both Midway and O"hare for years, and most of my flights out of Midway left on time. I never had a flight leave O'Hare on time. |

I personally prefer O'Hare. The old Midway was a complete dump, but there is a new terminal now which is nice. Your airline will dictate which airport you fly to. Southwest only flies to Midway, almost all traffic at Midway is Southwest. United only flies to O'Hare. There are many more airlines serving O'Hare than Midway. |

I use both airports on a regular basis, and like them both. It just depends on where I am flying to and which carrier has the better rates. |

Midway seems easier to get in and out of. |

I just flew in and out of O'Hare a couple of weeks ago, and found it quite easy to navigate.
The check-in and security lines moved quite quickly as well. It took less than 20 minutes from the time I arrived at the airport until I was through security. |

O'Hare is better and in a better neighborhood. Midway is in a shady neighborhood. |

I prefer O'Hare. Midway always seems like it's full of people who have never flown before, so many actconfused and lost and that goes for the personnel who work there. At both airports you have to deal with profoundly ignorant and harassing TSA "officials" - that means people who flunked out of high school & now enjoy being belittling and annoying to people who get to fly somewhere. O-Hare has better food choices and more alternative flights if something goes wrong with the weather. |
