When staying in florida do you prefer to stay in a villa or at a hotel?

at a villa you have your own pool and privacy
in a hotel you are closer to the parks and in walking distance to attractions like old town and restaurants

which would you prefer.

I have stayed in hotels twice, this year will be my first year in a villa, and i am really excited.

what are your views???

and also why do you choose that?

My hubby, two kids and myself are just back from Florida about 3 weeks ago and we stayed in a villa again.

Definately prefer it. We stayed in a Virgin Holidays villa this time. We all had our own space, excellent accomodation (5 double bedrooms all with cable tv, 2 with ensuite) kitchen with all mod cons, swimming pool, and even the garage had a pool table and air hockey table. It was located off highway 192 so you do need to hire a car but virgin do the full package and their flights are one of the better ones.

We find theme parks can be tiring especially if you are there from half eight in the morning and there was nothing nicer than going home to your 'own' place, letting the kids go in the pool and settling down with a bottle of wine (or two!) and maybe even ordering a pizza. On the other hand too if we were going to a park we had been to before and knew it would only take a few hours or going to a show that night we could lie in the sun by the pool and maybe have a bbq during the day and the kids would still be happy. Plus there were loads of restaurants, shops and supermarkets on highway 192 nearby.

Whichever you decide hope you have a blast!

For me it is a size issue. The Disney hotels are great, but not many of them will comfortably sleep my family of 5. A Villa just makes more sense for us.

I would go with a hotel. I hate traffic and driving in and out. You can pay for a villa in the parks if you want to pay the price. It is quite high and unaffordable for us. We always camp and really enjoy it and since it inside the parks, we get the great location and can spend our money on food instead of sleeping.

we always used to stay in hotels, but stayed in a villa for the first time 2 years ago. enjoyed it much more. own space & you can eat and do things any time you want. plus you get your own pool.

we weren't any further from the parks than we have been in hotels so from that point of view it didn't make a difference.

I haved stayed both on and off site and actually perfer a off site villa.
Yes, there are certain convienances like on site transportation that can't be beat (or can not waiting in line to get on a jam packed bus to walk a mile back to your hotel room be how it beats it?)

I love having seperate bedrooms and not being jam packed all in one room. Being able to watch TV and not being worried I would wake the kids. Relaxing on the patio in the morning with a cup of coffee. Enjoying the pool knowing no ones kid lost his diaper in it! Saving money on food by eating breakfast at "home". Being able to park right at the door and carry your kid into bed without breaking your back.

The list is endless!

My Villa community was Windsor Hills and they had a huge community pool with a slide that my kids LOVED as well. A mini water park without the ticket admission. Plus it was a short 5 minute commute back to the villa. While most people were still waiting for their bus, I was "home" enjoying a frozen Margarita and winding down from my day.

I prefer a hotel for a fact that when I go on vacation I want things like room service, a spa, and a concierge who can answer my questions. You don't get that from a villa.

I like a hotel because of the admenties. Shuttle to parks, extra park hours and because of all the Disney Spirit that goes on!

We prefer to stay in a suite in a hotel-we're not much for using the pool so that doesn't bother us,but we do like to self-cater so a suite is ideal-plenty of space and fully equipped, they are private enough and with the bonus of hotel facilities such as a convenient shop (don't mind paying the extra shop prices for the convenience),internet access, security etc...plus a villa is a little too far away from things for our liking,if we want to go out for a drink we then have to mess around with taxis.

Depends on your preferences..My wife and I have been going to Disney World for the last 10 years. And we just love renting a condo. The hotel rooms are so small that you feel like you have claustophobia. A 2 bedroom condo in Kissimmee off of 192. Can cost anywhere from 95 a night to 130 a night. But you get a condo that has over 1000 sq ft of living space. Including a full size kitchen. A full size washer and dryer. 2 bedrooms. One being a king size bed and the other has 2 twins . You are less than 2 miles from the Disney Parks. ANd the noise level is non existant. I do have a website that you can visit in case you want to research more on the condos and villas. Its www.villadirect.com This website has everything from 2 bedroom condos to 3 bedroom townhomes to up to 6 bedroom villas complete with pool and some have gamerooms in them. All these homes are less than 2 miles from the parks. So for my money I would choose the condos anytime..

I've done both also. I guess it really depends on what you plan on doing and what kind of group you have going. Last time we stayed at a house - we had 14 people with little kids. Much nicer.

for just me and my husband I would stay at the hotel. closer to everything and much more convenient for 2 people.

there is no comparison. Try a villa!

well. villas are amazing. its like your own little house!
and you have allot of privacy there. but hotels are fun too.
they can have work out rooms, pools, spa, and other things.

hotels are cheaper, and if your just planing to be in theme parks or at the beach the whole time, stay in a hotel.
the villa will be much to expensive if you wont even use it. [:

It depends what sort of vacation it is. Usualy I combine the two. Stay in a villa for the first week, and in a hotel the week after.

I like to stay in a villa when I'm traveling with family or do other things besides Disney. We have our own bedrooms and privacy, but share the kitchen and livingroom for fun family dinners and breakfast. And of course the private pool is excellent! When I do stay in a villa, I always get a rental car so it's easy to go to the walmart, Old Town, Sea World and Universal.

When it's a Disney vacation -or when Im traveling alone-, I always stay in a Disney resort. Most of the times it's one of the value resorts, which works out great for me. The reason I choose for a Disney hotel instead of another hotel off site, is because it's so much easier for me. I dont really go to Old Town when I'm by myself, so I just like to stay on site. The Disney buses take me everywhere I want to, and I can use the extra magic hours, so I can stay 3 hours longer in the park then when I would stay off site. Which to me is a big plus.

I can't really choose between villa and hotel, and that is why I usually stay at them both during the same vacation.
I know you'll have a great time in your villa! Just make sure it's not too far away from the attractions. That once happened to me. The villa was perfect, but it took me over an hour to get from the villa to Old Town. I'm from a country where an hour is a very long drive, so that wasnt a succes.

Staying at a hotel is 'vacation', staying at a villa is a home away from home.
Enjoy your stay!!

A villa every time.

You get a real chance to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

I am going again in 3 weeks time, cannot wait to get to my Home From Home.

Depends on what you want.....
A Villa gives you privacy to do your own thing and enjoy your company.... as well as the extra facilities they offer, ie own pool etc...
We have stayed in Villa's as a family of 8 and in a Motel as opposed to a Hotel as a couple and absolutely love the Motel for its family atmosphere and the feeling of belonging and being part of the wider 'thing' with all the other guests and staff..
