If you are looking for safety and piece of mind then Gilbert is the place. The city of Gilbert is rated one of the safest cities in the USA.

It depends on what kind of lifestyle you are looking for:

Family lifestyle/safe would be Gilbert or Mesa. (these are smaller towns on the outskirts of Phoenix-- they are east of Phoenix).

Scottsdale is good too and is closer to Phoenix, but it has a lot of really rich areas and is a bit ritzy. A very nice place though.

Chandler/Ahwatukee is safe too but not as safe as Gilbert, Mesa, or Scottsdale. It is very busy too.

Tempe is moderately safe, but it is mostly a college town and has some impoverished parts.

Downtown Phoenix is probably not somewhere you'd want to live, most people commute to work there everyday. It's very busy.

If your looking for somewhere outside of the Phoenix vicinity, there is Flagstaff which is up North. It is a very small, safe town where there is snow etc.

Whoa, if new york is a little north west of Arizona, then I really am on a different astral plane.

Tucson, AZ because that's where I'm moving this Friday.

Anywhere up north like Prescott...its really nice and really pretty. If u want to go farther north go to flagstaff, ashfork, or chino valley...lots and lots of rolling hill scenes up there. It isn't busy and there's many job opportunities and great schools

It depends upon what you are looking for...close to nightlife, a college, public schools, recreation etc. The best two towns are Scottsdale and Gilbert. But there are neighborhoods in a number of towns that are excellent....ex. Ocotillo in Chandler.

Phoenix Metro area... Tucson is old and pretty much just a college town. Yuma is just the AFB and is close to Mexico. Show Low is nice if you are extremely outdoorsy, but there isn't much else to do and finding a job may be difficult because it's small. Prescott is beautiful, but again, small so finding a job may be a problem. Flag is good. Mostly just a college town, but larger than the everything except Phoenix and Tucson and there are lots of outdoorsy things to do. Payson is... kinda run down. Everyone I know from there has always had problems finding work, but that may be just them :)

I would highly suggest Phoenix Metro...
