Orange County.
Nice weather. Lots of companies around Irvine would need someone with MIS background. Lively night scene in OC and nearby LA. Good looking friendly people. Good food and alot of beaches. plenty of culture. OC is like LA minus the Hollywood arrogance and not as much traffic. Good luck! |

Since you're single and childless probably L.A. or San Diego. I don't know how much $ you have but West Hollywood and Santa Monica are pretty cool for young people. Venice is kind of arty and weird if you're into that. I wouldn't recommend Orange County, even though that's where I'm from. It's probably too family oriented and Republican for you, even though it's the safest. |

San Diego, if you can afford to live there. Clean air, nice weather, and lots to do. However, there are a lot of Republicans, but they tend to be socially liberal vis-a-vis Republicans in other parts of the country. The absolute worst place to live in SoCal is probably Temecula/Murrieta. Its suburbia-hell |

rodondo beach is pretty cool, or santa cruz even, but i suggest you move to the bay area if you like the night scene. |

I enjoyed living in Santa Barbara a lot because most people were friendly and the weather was almost always mild (meaning 65-75 degrees). There is a good night life there because Santa Barbara is also a "college town" with University of California Santa Barbara right next to it. I would also consider San Luis Obispo for similar reasons. But as others have mentioned, be warned for the high price of renting or owning a home. |

Orange County like Foothill Ranch best place ever. Look it up but thats like a quiet community but its only 15 minuets away from Laguna Beach and 20 min from Disneyland. its like perfect and everyone is pretty nice. also try Rancho Santa Marguita its right next to Foothill Ranch and just as nice.
if you dont like that then Santa Monica |

Hollywood is a prime place where you are sure to expand your mind. Apparently, a lot of people who move here go to Hollywood. It can be a bit sketchy, but I personally have never had any trouble (me being a LA native and 5'1 small frame girl none-the-less)
If you don't want to be in the scene so much but can access it easily, I might suggest Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood or Van Nuys. All are nice areas and it's a "quick" metro ride to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Chinatown...etc... |

San Diego. The people there are easy going and happy as a whole. Prices are high, but more than worth it. There is an overall feeling of health and mental, physical, emotional fitness. You can do any type of day activities from high energy and excitement, to an easy going breakfast at an outside cafe by the beach. Then there is a whole range of activities for the night life, again it ranges from the wild to the mild. The guys are super good looking. But can be a little shallow at times. Don't get me wrong there are some great guys there too, just be careful. (or girls, whatever you like). Great job options too. And later, if you do have kids, there are so many groups and activities, you won't feel like you are cut off from excitement to raise them, you will feel like they get you into a new world of small people fun. Good luck on your life journey. Hope you are windsurfing soon. |

If your looking to get away from conservitive views....so cal is the wrong place to be. I would recomend La Jolla or Oceanside. |

I love it here, but friendly.... not so much. You didn't say where you were going to school. Believe me, you don't want too much of a commute. |

Here are some three choices:
San Diego (Kinda expensive, but veryy kewl)
L.A. (ok, so everything there is pretty much expensive, but they have a nightclub on like, every block)
Malibu (Not sure about to many nightclubs there tho...) |

unfortunately most of south Cali is full of crime and earth quakes especially in south beach and San Diego. |

Just a side note:
Californians do not call our state "Cali". Most of us find that to be a derogatory term when referring to our state. It is usually used by people from the east coast. The correct way to abbreviate our state is "Ca" or "Cal". In the context of your question it would be "Southern Cal." Sorry to nit pic. |
