Where is a good place to raise a family and live in Georgia?

U wont really find a good place like that in metro atlanta. its a big city.. Dalton and elijay are straight up country.. If you want to be near the city and not be so far from the mountains look into Cobb county or Cherokee county..

I would say Cobb county. except the area around the Fulton county border like Six Flags and Fulton industrial. One thing to note

Georgia is a right to work state so it is Pro-Employer and Anti-Employee so remember that when moving here. If you get hurt on the job or just fired you are out of luck or at mercy of the employer. The state is controlled by republicans which love big business.

Unfortunately you can't have both.... If you want to live in the small town area with mountain views, you aren't going to be close enough to work in the city, unless you want to commute every day 2 hours each way..... Although some good choices might be Kennesaw, Woodstock, Alpharetta and Cummings.

athens. athens has a great feel too it, but is a college down so has the things you need. and it's close to atlanta

kennesaw is also nice and small towny.

tons of people swear by peachtree city.

savannah, while touristy, is very lovely.

say away from augusta

some people like marieta, i'm not impressed. alphretta and roswell or okay, pretty suburban though.

hapeville is growing. has a small town feel, but still gentrifying a bit, but you may like it.

We are near Augusta and we love it! We are 2 hours from the mountains & Atlanta, 2 hours from historic Savannah and the ocean, and 1 hour from Charleston!

Decatur is a small town that is almost swallowed by Atlanta.
The CDC and a very good university are there.
It fit your description perfectly when i lived there, but it may have changed a lot since then.

for me, i would pick anyplace in Atlanta over any other place in Georgia. in fact, Atlanta is my favorite place i have ever lived. i'm sure there will be other suggestions.

Dawsonville (I'm moving there next month) Blairsville (my favorite vacation spot) Ellijay, Hiawassee.

All of those are in or close to the north Georgia mountains, I especially recommend the first two. Dawsonville is growing quickly, so you won't be far from most things you need.

I would say Gainesville,Ga. On the shores of Lake Lanier this town is a nice place to raise your kids because the school system is top notch it was acknowledged by George Bush on his state of the union!! The area is beautiful with the scenic view of the mountains and the lake shore its just a nice place to relax and raise the children in. Gainesville isn't all rural area its also a urban area with high class dinning and businesses in the area. Also if you are a spiritual person they have a variety of churches for a example they have free chapel, they have first baptist of Gainesville, they have Lakewood Baptist Church, and they have much more! So i hope you choose Gainesville to raise your children and i hope this helped you!

Carrolton Georgia is about a hour from Atlanta, if I remember correctly. I was assigned to Carrolton with the American Red Cross during a fund raising effort. I really liked the town and the people were very friendly.

I would have to say Newnan GA. i lived there 27 yrs and had to move because of my job and miss it so much. You are close to so much but also there are plenty of homes in the country!!!

Hmmmm...At one point I lived in [[south]] Forsyth County. It's gorgeous! The school's are also really great. The kids there are very proveleged. Also, Dahlonega is very nice. The beautiful North Georgia mountains, fresh air, and scenic views. It's great. Also, you could look into Rome.

Dawsonville, Ellijay, Jasper, Dahlonega, all great mountain cities, about 30-45 minutes from downtwon Atlanta, all of them have that small town feel but close to everything you would need.

i would say alpharetta its not a bad lil surburban area to raise kids it has great schools and everything is close by you not to far from the city its like you are in the middle of everything

Well It Just Depends Fulton County Is Were I Use To Live And It Was Great but Its High Dollor But They Have Great School Systems, I Learned Spanish in Elementery, Temple Doesnt Have A Great School System But They Have Really Nice People And Theres Farms Everywere And Its 30 mins Away From Alabama And About An 1 hour From Atlanta The Great Big City!
