I live in the mountains of PA. We often go to the river and spend a lot of time there. But our favorite place, is this gorgeous swimming hole we 'found' one day while following a mountain stream. Its about 1/2 mile off the trail, and its just gorgeous. Its fed with a clear mountain stream, the water is crystal clear, you can even drink it! Its amazing... Its fed by this waterfall that comes off this granite face... just beautiful! So great for a hot day, make a fire, cook some food, wade in the pool, and sit in the sun!

An amusement park of course! maybe a six flags or something of that nature! You can never get to much amusement in an amusement park!

.
On the ocean.

The museum in a major city such as New York, Boston, or Philadelphia. Get an annual membership at your "home" museum with no-charge visitor privileges at other museums outside that area. That keeps the cost low and you get all the benefits of membership (sleepover events for the kids; special screenings; merchandise discounts; head-of-line privileges for events like the King Tut artifacts).

The zoo. but that's because I absolutely adore animals. and most kids tend to like animals as well.

Just outside in our yard, a few summers ago. We were four wheeling, and gardening, and playing ball. Now we are all too busy to get together even at home.
Another place I love is the town park. All 5 boys love it there. We always go home dirty and with boo boos but its worth it.
Then my husband and I love the Adirondacks. We try to go at least one day out of every year but we talk about getting a camp there all the time. What about you?

i agree with all these answers. but six flags and parks like that are really fun. if you're looking for something more like one on one with each other... id say the lake. you can go inner tubing and have packed sandwiches. its really fun

On the boat at the lake.....and it is fairly inexpensive...with the exception of the gas it takes to get there! $4.00 is insane!!!
