Where is the best hotel to stay in Las Vegas for the best price?

My girl friends and I are going to Vegas this summer for the 1st time. We would like some tips on the best hotel to stay at. Important things to us are:

1. Good price
2. Good pool
3. Good atmosphere
4. Close to all the action
5. Big/Non-Smelly rooms

Any advice for first-timers?

1. Good Price- There are lots of good prices on the Vegas strip, and I think you can find some good deals during the summer because it is so hot in Vegas. Broadwaybox.com offers the most up-to-date promotion codes for some of the top las vegas hotels. They even have codes on there that are not on the hotel website. Also sign up for all of the hotels' email offers to receive great rates in your inbox. We always stay at Excalibur for $51/night- great location on the strip and the newly renovated pool is due to be opened this spring. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

2. Good Pool- here is a website devoted to rating the pools in Vegas. My advice would be to chose a few hotels you would like to stay at based on their price, and then check their pools to see which is better. Mandalay Bay is supposed to have the best pool according to many sources, but it is kind of pricey. Flamingo is also supposed to have a great pool, but it is a very old hotel, and some say it is kind of outdated.

3. Good Atmosphere- all of the themed hotels have a good atmosphere. I wouldn't stay anywhere North of Treasure Island though, because you begin to get away from the action and the area is kind of shady. Good Party hotels would be

Planet Hollywood(formerly Aladdin)- brand new- from $119/night
Palms- rates from $89/night- off strip
Rio- rates from $140/night
Harrah's- rates from $55/night
Luxor- see below
New York- see below

4. Close to all the action- all of the hotels I have named are in the heart of the strip, or very near the heart of the strip. Refer to the Strip hotel map in the links to see where each hotel is located.

5. Big/Non-smelly rooms- the best way to check this is to look at the hotel websites directly. I would stay away from older hotels and stick to the newer flashier ones for this.

My advice to you- try to stay during the weeknights because prices skyrocket on the weekends. Don't schedule your trip activities, just play it by ear. There's so much to see and do, it's much better and less frantic that way- you have to take the time to enjoy Las Vegas. Also look at las vegas coupons online for discounts on activities. When you get to Vegas, grab every Vegas magazine you can find because they all contain very useful coupons. When eating, the buffets are affordable and tast wonderful- Planet Hollywood and Rio's buffets are the absolute best. Have Fun! I hope that I have helped out.

For your specs I would recommend Golden Nugget. It is a nice place with a new pool (and waterslide with sharks) and has good deals. The only drawback is that it is downtown (not walking distance to the strip with all the action). The rooms are renovated with comfortable beds and there are non-smoking rooms. It's not glam like some of the places on the strip, but the value is excellent. Some people like staying downtown because it has this big nightly light show and music show that supposed to be really interesting. My husband and I never got a chance to see it and I regret not seeing it.

If you need airfare too, consider a package deal, especially if you are flying from across the country. USair vacations has the lowest prices. I'm from Orlando and tickets to Vegas are not cheap.

For example, Dec 1 travel for 4 nights/5 days during the week is 272 pp (not including tax) including airfare and hotel at a decent hotel downtown Las Vegas.

That's about 600 for 2 people air and hotel including tax.

For rooms only, consider booking directly with the hotel. They provide good deals.

I would recommend either MGM Grand, Mirage and TI all have great pools and a good athmosphere/nightlife.

They also have nice promotions you can check out:

I like the Station Hotel/Casinos. Santa Fe Station and Red Rock Station are my favorite. While not on The Strip they are a great value and have everything you would want from a casino.

NYNY is fun, a good location, has Coyote Ugly and offers a good time!! The pool is on the small side; but that is a small price to pay!!

after all that,,, i would say the luxor..its at the top of the strip, but it is priced wright..pools nice.rooms are neat...stay in the pyramid part...

Well going in the summer you will be hard pressed to find a good cheap place to stay. Most hotels on the strip which is where you will probably want to be are going to be somewhat expensive. But they have the best attractions and pool areas. But if you don't mind being away from the "action" then you can find normal rooms at smaller areas throughout the city.
On the strip Venetician, Bellagio, Treasure Island & Luxor all nice from what i've been through. Off the strip my favorite place is The Hard Rock.

Have fun, which I'm sure you will it's hard not too there.

Try Bally's as they normally have good prices and are close to all the action. If not, the Monte Carlo may have a fire sale on rooms.

I suggest The Plaza, which is off the strip, located just off of Fremont street. You're not too far to get back to the strip though and the price is cheap, but the rooms are really nice.

It really depends on the area and atmosphere you are looking for... Do you want a party all night and go crazy looking to meet guys??? Then stay at the hard rock or a hotel close by like the excalibur or the new york new york...

If you want a more laid back atmosphere you can stay downtown at a place like fitzgerald's or the 4 queens....

I stayed at Bills Gambling Hall in August. It is directly across from the Bellagio and runs about $99 per night. We stayed in a room that even overlooked the Bellagio Fountains. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable...not much more you can ask for considering you will only sleep there! If you are looking to stay in one of the more upscale hotels you might want to look into Caesars Place or Mandalay Bay!
