The Brookfield Zoo just outside Chicago, IL is an amazing zoo! The Lincoln Park zoo is small but is is right in Chicago and it is free! The last free zoo in the US.

The St. Louis Zoo is ok.

San Francisco's Zoo is quite good.

The San Diego Zoo is probably one of the best in the world. But Ashlee H is a little off because Alcatraz, Chinatown and the Golden Gate Bridge are in San Francisco, which is 500 miles north of San Diego

The San Diego Wild Animal Park and The San Diego Zoo are awesome! I live in San Diego and it is one of our biggest attractions. The Wild Animal park is more open and you pretty much just take a tram around a life-like praire. There are other options like going into the praire and feeding the animals, however it is expensive. The Zoo is much more popular because it has more animals and more things to do inside of the park. I like the Zoo because it is located in Balboa Park, which has nice museums for children and adults close by.

A great one is the one in Washington D.C. because right after you go to the zoo, you can take a quick train ride over to some different museums...which is pretty cool and fun :) and since a lot of the museums..different ones are really close to each other (like..walking distance) its really convenient.
then there's the bronx zoo. which is also a nice one..its big and spaced out so its nice to walk around with the family with shops everywhere just in case your kids get too bored ;)

It's been awhile

I have been to the Bronx Zoo and the Philadelphia Zoo both are awesome. They also have other things nearby if you have extra days at your disposal. Philly is full of history and close to DC and it monuments etc or Lancaster county. Bronx Zoo is New York no need to say more...won't have enough time to do every thing in New York.

Omaha Nebraska is the home to the Henry Doroly Zoo. It is one of the best in the country. The worlds largest indoor tropical rain forest is located there along with many other world class exhibits.. The zoo is located on interstate 80 that crosses the country. Well worth the trip to Nebraska.

St. Louis Missouri zoo is the only one I have visited but it is awesome! I have heard many times it is the best in the USA

I keep hearing that the San Deigo zoo is great.

I've only been to Lincoln Park zoo and Brookfield zoo. Both in or near Chicago.

Lincoln Park is really nice because you have the background of the city.

Brookfield is a bit bigger. Still very nice.

Nice thing about these is that a few big museums are close by. You have the Planitarium, Shed Aquariam, Science and Industry, Field Musuem, and art musuems are all over Chicago.

There are also fun restraunrants like Dick's Last Resort. They have live bands there and the waiters are rude. They also give you a ton of napkins to throw at whoever you want, worker or customer. Kids love the place.

I've also been to a zoo in Argentina which was really interesting to go since it's an entirely different county. Saw a couple White Tigers there.

San Diego Zoo is awsome! Also going there you could do Alcatraz, and china town, golden gate bridge. Lots of things to do in that area.
